I'll bet his $100,00.00 watch shows the same time as my $18.00 Casio.

A fool and his 100,000 dollar watch are soon parted.

Well jesus christ, if this isn't the pinnacle of extravagance. Disgustingly so. Nobody needs a watch literally encrusted with that many diamonds. In fact I think it actually makes it look worse.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

I have one or two nice watches, but they are quite plain and simple I think the expression is more is less, even IF I had the money I can't see my self buying this watch, but at least it was returned to the owner, some people would be less honest.

Bit excessive for a watch, seen some $X000 rolexes on some colleagues.

Personally happy with my Swiss Techno Chronograph for 10.000Yen. Granted my previous Citizen Attesa and Seiko were more expensive.

All waterproof and analog so no need to take them off at the Pool or Beach, and look decent casual or for Business.

If you have the money, spend it how you want. But I personally don't find that watch to be a nice looking watch. It just looks like it was made to look expensive for the sake of looking expensive, without thought to the design aesthetic.

If you are going to have so much money, at least have an ounce of good taste. Beyond stupidity.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Guess he didn't care THAT much about his watch to leave it behind.

Thats one ugly watch

13 ( +15 / -2 )

The band looks alright, not great but alright. The face is hideous.

The Transportation Security Administration says the watch was picked up Thursday by a colleague of the Japanese real estate entrepreneur who left it behind. The friend planned to fly to Japan on Friday to hand deliver it.

I think the colleague's name was Soprano something, Tony Soprano.

I've got a $29 Casio with a 10-year battery. If I left it behind, I wouldn't give a cr@p.

Wow, all the envious haters. You may think it's gaudy, and perhaps it is. But it's the owner's money to do with as he pleases. Need is irrelevant.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

It's not jealousy at all, that is one gaudy watch. Has to belong to a yakuza.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

All the good that could be done with $100,000. Of course it's his money and if he wants to roll around naked in thousands of dollar bills that's his prerogative. But, I cannot have any respect for this kind of person. The joy of donating to, and fundraising for, good causes has taught me that such materialism is incredibly wasteful and the sense of achievement and satisfaction in doing this most definitely surpasses any gaudy piece of jewelry worn on one's wrist.

I wonder if he'll do any good deed in return for getting his watch back...

8 ( +9 / -1 )

See, people get their expensive stuff back in America

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I'm sure they will now go back to finding my son's Nintendo DS.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Vanity has its rewards indeed.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Yes, it is, and that's where it ends. No one gets to pooh-pooh what others do with the money they earned.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

I like how most people in the comments are busy bashing how the watch looks or how the man has chosen to spend his money. But who gives a crap? He's a grown man. How pointless to interfere with how people spend their money. Maybe he's just really into watches. Maybe he just does want to show off. But so. Freaking. What.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Exactly. After all, without real estate agents, real estate would not exist and, ergo, there would be no Earth. Think about all these brave men create! This is the same logic that justifies Donald Trump.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

$100,000 for THAT watch? Har! Again, something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

"I'll bet his $100,00.00 watch shows the same time as my $18.00 Casio."

I'll bet my 100 yen Daiso watch is more accurate.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I would love to buy an expensive watch.

Not this vulgar, ugly-looking thing, though.

Something interesting such as the Ressence Type 3.

He probably is a Japanese billionaire who went Atlantic City NJ because Caesars Palace created Caesars was bankrupted and many real estate there are on sale in NJ. Sony NJ already moved out years ago. Real Estate buyers go everywhere, Not watch part but wristband is more pricy. Rich people can afford to be careless. but he was in USA so I guess he was playing SmartPhone like anyone in USA.

So not the point. I am continually astounded by remarks on other people's wealth...someone is always saying something like 'Their GoFundMe exceeded the total, they should donate the rest', 'they make too much money, they should give it away', and I always wonder would these same individuals would be so altruistic were it their own money that was being demanded.

If he were not a real estate agent, then it wouldn't bother you that he had $100,000 to spend?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

There is reason why rich people have bad taste. There is no one around them to set them straight. This watch is truly ugly. You will not find anything this ugly looking even in Walmart.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The highlight of this story should not be the watch but the fact he is getting it back fro m an airport in New Jersey which should kind of bring up that state's image.

Not sure if he'd get anything from the airport in my home sweet home LAX.

Wow, all the envious haters. You may think it's gaudy, and perhaps it is. But it's the owner's money to do with as he pleases. Need is irrelevant.

Nope not envious. Even if I had annual revenue equating to a thousand times the cost of that watch, the only way you'd find it on my wrist was if I died and someone put it on my wrist in the casket as a joke. Because that watch IS a joke.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What a tasteless, butt-ugly piece of time showing this was. Leave it to a "real estate entrepreneur" to have the money but no taste whatsoever. Wonder if he and his "friend" have the same matching track suits, gold rings and the branded man-bags as well...

4 ( +6 / -2 )

But is he happy?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Phew. I don't even have a watch anymore. I use my cell phone as a watch.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@CHarald: In USA, cellphone is out of dated. Smart Phone is getting out of dated after Apple created new Apple something watch phone something,

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The security gate is out in the open for all to see. It would be hard for a TSA agent to scoop such a.... unique-looking watch in that environment. However, if the watch were found in a suitcase during TSA inspection behind closed doors, it would be in a pawn shop in New Jersey by now.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Lucky to get it back! In this part of the world, I couldn't get back a handmade item!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I could go to any street corner in Times Square in Manhattan and buy a copy/counterfeit version of the same watch. Looks cheap, gaudy and like a hip hop gangsta time piece to me.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

He must have left it behind because it looks so vulgar and offensive to any semblance of taste. I think, I have not perhaps, ever seen such an ugly timepiece in all my years.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I left a $100 Trilby on the parcel shelf in a train and it got nicked within 10 minutes of me putting it there. The fact that no-one filched his $100,000 watch tells you all you need to know about his tastes.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Looking at this watch makes me wonder if Apple's new gizmo will work as it should on this owner's wrist...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And I'm not surprised I got thumbed down without any comments. This is ridiculous. The article is not about how the watch looks, but everyone down here suddenly becomes Watchers of Morality with how one should spend their money. It's dumb and you look like children. Yes, you look envious and bitter with these comments, no matter how little you care for my comment. Live and let life. I can't believe it's such a big deal for you people.

as long as his wealth is legal and he pay his taxes then he has the right to spend his money the way he wants,we do not know the circumstances in which he forget his watch, was he in some health or family problems etc, I read this news only that the authority did a good job while returning his watch.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That is quite ugly, all it does is scream that I am rich.

If money wasn't a problem for me, I would get a watch that was made by this man..

http://www.danielslondon.com/

But, I am glad that he got his watch back,,, he should give a nice present to all the ssecurity staff

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"as long as his wealth is legal and he pay his taxes then he has the right to spend his money the way he wants"

No one should have the right to wear a watch that ugly, hehe

"That is quite ugly, all it does is scream that I am rich."

No, it screams that I have no taste whatsoever in timepieces, hehe

AN Other - bwa ha ha ha ha! YES! You nailed it!

Clearly money doesnt buy you taste!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Haters will hate. Especially the socialist /collectivist type evidenced here.Yes, the watch is not in most people's taste, but it'snot yours, nor is his money. Get your own bag of chips.

Kapuna:

" I'll bet his $100,00.00 watch shows the same time as my $18.00 Casio. "

...except the time is harder to see between all those diamonds. Anybody else thinks this 100,000 USD gadget is really butt ugly?

when I look at this watch, I think the expression is "less is more"
