poor guy... I think he was under a lot of stress.

RIP and thoughts to his family. I doubt the stress helped him any.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Peace to his spirit, this is sad news. My thoughts to his family.

I hope it wasn't poison, as was the case with Litvinenko, and may still turn out to be the case with Arafat.

This is a most interesting turn of event.

Something seems rotten in the state of Japan, and I don't think it's all that natto...!

RIP. A lot of us joked when he passed out upon being given the job of ambassador, but obviously there was something seriously wrong with the man and it is no laughing matter. Could it have been caused by stress? sure, but it could have been caused by a dozen other things otherwise and can be chalked up to bad timing.

I get a thumb down for that? I guess the right-wingers have logged in and are thumbing down anyone who doesn't immediately call for the fall of China and South Korea while painting Japan as the victim. :) Won't bring back the person who just died, but might make some wingers feel better.

That doesn't sound like a natural death. My guess is J-government is wondering what to do of that. That's extremely dangerous to announce in the current context with all the busybody weirdos going to revenge anything on anybody.

Could it have been caused by stress?

They'd have announced it. Karoshi, next guy, business as usual...

Cos, how will it not be business as usual? For all we know the guy had health issues. Why jump to conclusions?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

That's weird ! Will be poisoning?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I didn't know he had health issues, well anything serious. I doubt they'd have chosen a sick man for the post. Of course, anybody can fall dead suddenly. That happened to Obuchi, but they immediately said it was a heart attack. Now the context is tensed,

how will it not be business as usual?

I don't it think it could be business as usual for long time, in case it happened he had been assassinated... whether authorities know by who with proof, or whether, they have no particular idea.

Given the paucity of in-depth news on most issues of importance here, speculation and guesswork is entirely to be expected. If the guy did have health issues, all the more reason not to give him this of all portfolios and instead, as others have pointed out, make sure the new appointee had the stamina and pristine health required.

They need to look at every millimetre of skin. The coroner needs to look for any needle puncture marks and so forth, any sign of skulduggery, between the fingers, the toes, under the nose, behind the ears, here, there and everywhere.

stroke?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Where was he walking at the time? Was it over a bridge and did anyone close to him at the time have an umbrella?

Very odd. Nishimiya was the career diplomat to replace the former ambassador, who was an ex Itochu president and very unpopular with the ministry / Minshuto.

Very very odd.

I was watching the news earlier and it looks like a CVA or stroke. What else could it be? It's so obvious. Anyway, I am on the topic....

Do an autopsy something's strange ??? It's just weird !!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If it was a heart attack or stroke they would say so. Unlikely for a 60 year old. He was found in Shibuya. My guess is that he was not completely sober, slipped down some stairs and hit his head. RIP.

Many Japanese men die of heart attacks etc..my guess way too much stress. RIP

I wonder if Niwa will get his old job back now?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

the timing is almost stranger than a fiction. RIP anyways.

I immediately thought poisoning. Lord forbid another ambassador die this month. If so I think a bigger plot will be going down internationally. Misdirection has happened time and time again to cover evil doings.

The first thing that went through my mind was what happened to Litvinenko in London but the main thing is a man has passed away so R.I.P Shinichi Nishimiya!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's not a good time for there to be no ambassador....

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

A 60 year old guy with a stressful job who probably smoked and drank like all the other oyaji that age. Couldn't been anything. Jumping to the conclusion that it is poisoning is just laughable.

Uichiro Niwa has done a great job being the ambassdor, the replacement was totally unnecessary and by no means, it was those rightists blaming him with groundless accusations, I pity the death of Nishimiya, he must has been under stress excerted by rightists for long that kill him!
