Police in Kanagawa prefecture said Thursday that a man was found dead in a car in Sagamihara after having apparently stabbed himself.

According to police, a passerby noticed a man with a knife protruding from his chest sitting in a car, which was parked in public park in the city's Chuo Ward, at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Fuji TV reported.

Police arrived at the scene to find the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, sitting in the passenger seat, with a kitchen knife embedded in his chest.

Police say the driver's seat door was locked and that there were no signs of a struggle, leading investigators to suspect that the man's death was a suicide.

Go for the easy answer, car doors can be locked from the outside, maybe he was stabbed and then locked in his car. How about a little investigation instead of just drawing a conclusion. Maybe this guy was stabbed outside the car and managed to retreat to the safety of his car then locked the door so his attacker could not continue to assault him.

I can't understand what makes this suicide so special it makes the news. There are nearly a hundred suicides every day. This is just another one of them. One of my ex-wife's friends did exactly the same thing a few years ago, but that didn't make the news.

It looks too suspicious to be a suicide. People usually do not stab themselves in the chest to commit suicide. The chest takes a lot of force to puncture. The abdomen just under the xiphoid process is the place someone committing suicide would go. The chest is where someone with much anger would stab. It is too easy to say it is a suicide.

Am I the only one who wonders why the article only mentions the lock on the driver's door when the body was sitting in the PASSENGER'S seat?

Could it be that there was someone sitting in the passengers seat that stabbed the man in the chest. One would think that someone committing suicide would go for the soft stomach tissue. He would stand a better chance of success.
