Good news.

10 days 30 percent open? Next typhoon will close it again. Now 7 hurricanes active in the northern hemisphere.

They look apologetic.

Why do staff have to bow because of bad design and natural disaster. Wonder if they were paid for not being able to work.

Excellent news for us Osaka peeps. Thanks to those who worked very hard on this. Hopefully we aren’t as naive and are better prepared for storms and to help tourists from now on.

What's so special about this pic?! Nothing!

It reminds me of airports in Britain and America. Japanese trying the "we're unique" thingy again.

Don't talk rot. Since when do staff in the UK and the US bow?

Since it's a man made island, I'd be concerned about the foundation. Typhoon surges might have displaced it a bit. With more on the way I wonder how many hits it can take on. It should probably close after each typhoon so that a proper inspection can take place

Bowing is also common in Canada and Australian airports.

The staff in the picture seem to be ANA employees.

Maybe, they are thanking the thousands of customers that used their services to get to Kansai from Tokyo recently....

A few years ago when I was in Tokyo I went to the Seibu Department store in Ikebukuro. I entered the store when it had just started trading in the morning. Their female staff all stood near their counter and bowed to the customers. I believe the ANA staff are bowing cause the airline has just reopened its check-in counters.

I do not know if it is common in Canada. But I do not think bowing is common in Australia (26 years living down under). The other countries I can think of where bowing is common are Korea and China.

Well done!

30% capacity after 10 days closure. Could be worse, I guess. But you'd think that in region routinely pounded by typhoons and a facility located three kilometers offshore, they would have prepared for such contingencies from the get-go.

Don't they have back problem with that bow? Roughly Japanese bow over 50 in a day and in movies, 2 minutes of the scenes are bows. Korean bow is slightly disrespectful as it avoids back, however may get the problem with the neck.
