Good on them! A lot of people have been sacrificing and working doubletime to get this up and running. Usually quiet Izumisano Station where the airport line turns, now has long lines every morning of people getting on buses.
But the most important thing is that people and life can get on as soon as possible.

Nope, flights departed KIX today, my SIL was on one.

No I don’t think its more important than safety, who said that?
Dude you have your mind set about everything here, so whats the point?

You think that's more important than safety? Not surprised. Safety isn't a priority here when it comes to sacrificing oneself for business and company. Most countries don't order things as: 1) get customers back. 2) ensure safety later. But that's how it works here, from renewing nuclear power plant operations with a promise to meet safety standards within five years after restart, to them taking weeks to check safety measures an clean the runway, but resuming flights immediately.

The i in Kix stands for "international." Itami and Kobe are the region's domestic facilities. It does seem odd they don't transfer the few domestic KIX flights to those airports so KIX can concentrate on the international flights, in which the industry and passengers have much more invested.

Isn't it about time they got some rubber stamps, sniffer dogs, passport readers and trained some more robotic immigration officers to show you images of drugs and ask if you smoke them or have any in your bag and then make Itami and Kobe true International Airports? A lot more convenient and nearer Osaka,Kobe and Kyoto. Itami is still called Osaka International Airport and has the sign up from yesteryear. OK the locals moan about the noise. Modern jets are much quieter. Give all the locals free double or triple glazing to shut em up.With the Rugby World Cup next year and then the Olympics, back up plans must be in place.

"It will take two weeks to determine when the damaged roads on the bridge can be restored"
But in the meantime we have rushed to save face and get people back doing business again... and hope nothing happens.
