What I read: some 200 years ago, farmers started creating indoor ponds during winter and, surprise!, they discovered that carp (and some other fish) when not exposed to the sun will develop colorful skin the next generation. So, what version is true?

One of my favorite foods, like fugu.

interesting article.

The news that koi are popular globally and cost a lot is not really "news".  I guess a bit informative though, if you have previously read nothing about Japan.

Nothing better to do, so I would like to express my own views, which differ from those in the article.

While I find many things about Japanese culture admirable and beautiful, I have always been amazed that so much attention surrounds these fish. There are many beautiful fish in the world, but koi, in my opinion, are not among them. Apologies to anyone offended, just one person's view.
