A company named "Shonan" based in Chiba? LOL

The lion is only acting as a lion.

Dan, I got your sarcasm. Good one.
A certain side of me thinks, "Good for the lion."
Dan Lewis
Fun fact haters - the lion was already locked up. Do you even sarcasm, bro?

Belief that a wild animal is any thing but wild. Belief that an ambush predator programmed to wait until the time is right is safe. Lunacy.
Nessie
It doesn't explain ten years of not attacking the handlers.
SenseNotSoCommon
TV news reported that the lion has just been washed.
Apart from this being something that just doesn't happen in the wild, what temperature was it in Chiba yesterday? I'd maul someone for doing this to me in an exposed cage.

Pics on the idiot box show a pretty grim looking location, like a large version of a nasty pet store......
Wakarimasen
guess they will have to put the lion down now.

Oh, so this is the lions fault?

Monday morning wasn't it, I know how he feels

As others have said - it seems pretty obvious ! Lions are not meant to be cooped up in a small cage and chained on top of it ! The zoos are already bad enough but kept in a small cage ?

Handlers are not so sensitive after all. They can't tell when an animal is uneasy? Strange.

I bet I can figure it out.

Well I could be wrong but mauling is typically what Lions tigers and.bears do...OH MY!

If someone locked me up just to oogle at me I'd want to take a swipe at them as well..
Dan Lewis
Lock that lion up!!
carpboy
As noted, being 'chained' and 'groomed' may have had something to do with it.
toolonggone
It was not clear what provoked the animal.
How about being a captive wild beast for starters?
Moonraker
Probably objected to being dressed in "cute" frilly pants and booties.
TumbleDry
"It was not clear what provoked the animal."
The reason is probably in the article itself.
Anyways, hope all get well soon.
