.........mature nature is only doing its work of reminding those pressurising for restart of nuclear reactors despite reject by the people that earthquakes , tsunamis and maybe terrorist attacks, not the corrupt and corrupted, will always say the last word and give the last advise on nuke reactors. And you aren't seen anything yet!

Every time an earthquake is reported it's always the same: "This is why the reactors should never be restarted." Name an alternative power generation system which can come online in under a year and supply the needs of the people and industry.

@Thunderbird2

Oh, yes! One country has already done this! Within less than one year, it developed a system that can produce electricity from renewables equivalent to 10-20 nuclear reactors! Because of this, it has brought forward the dates for elimination of nuke electricity. The example is known globally. For this to happen, however, there is need for leadership and a will to do it, which are in short supply in Japan

Mother nature is not reminding anyone of anything. Life on Earth wouldn't even exist without tectonic activity, so we just have to put up with the occasional disaster and cope as well as we can when these things happen.

I was at Chuson-ji temple at 1:07 today and I didn't feel a thing. This was a non event.

Why does it take 3 hours and 10 minutes after the event before it is reported here? There has been a significant arrest this evening but it seems that we have to wait until tomorrow to read the "news" here.

So, can you name this phantastic country? What is it?

As people start to die off in all age groups in certain areas the Japanese will be faced with the stark fact that nuclear power is not worth the supposed benefits if it kills people.

The alternatives will then be utilized......

Even if you have enough peak capacity to replace the nuclear plants, you still have to have a backup power source. I really do wonder about wave power though... Japan is in the middle of the ocean, and there is a tremendous amount of kinetic energy just outside of reach, sitting unused....

Japan already has advanced alternative energy production but it's being held back by the powes that be. Shame since its already proven solar energy technology has surpassed nuclear energy efficiency. Even that news is being obscured.
