I was in my car making a call when it started shaking. It was a good one. I wonder if the folks down in Fukushima were running for the hills just in case.

My Japanese colleagues had a giggle that I was straight out of my seat to open the office door...

Does everybody know of the asperity model for seismic activity during tectonic subduction?

I think of the Japanese Pacific Coast as one of those music boxes that you crank. It will just keep playing these little seismic tunes as the asperities snap and twang in solid rock as it subducts. I reminisce about listening to "pop goes the weasel" playing on one of those Jack in the Box toys that used one of those music-crank devices. I am pretty sure they don't make them anymore.

Not yesterday, but one of these days, that old clown will pop out of the box, laughing at us when we hit just... the right....note.

Was just using the restroom at the time. I had gotten the alert before it barely shook in NE Saitama.
