Not "if" but only "when", and how much harder.

Quite a number of aftershocks hit the area. I hope everyone is safe!!!

On the 21st floor near Ginza we just got a gentle sway but I always find the potential for what it might turn into far worse than the actual swaying. The big one started off small and then suddenly ramped up. It's not knowing if it will happen again that I find unsettling every time.

Well lets see, Tochigi Prefecture (栃木県, Tochigi-ken) is a prefecture located in the Kantō region. Nikkō is within that prefecture, approximately one hour by train from Tokyo. I felt it here in Akasaka, and I hoped it would not escalate, but I did scurry to locate my hard hat.....

Well to anyone who was effected by the quake up there I pray that you are all safe and I am thankful you all are okay.

Didn't feel a thing here in Tokyo. Was walking at the time so that might be why...

I'm in Bando, 45km NW of tokyo and barely felt a thing. got the crap scared out of me by my phone though!
FightingViking
Apparently my 'phone was "on strike"... didn't make a beep but the dog almost jumped out of his skin (Yokohama). There was one big thud but we didn't know if it would be followed by others...

All the phones sounded the alert in Kaihim Makuhari and there was that uneasy pause. A little swaying but no one was diving towards the exit/toilet.
Disillusioned
Hardly felt anything in northern chiba. I got the alert on my phone though, which sent me into a mild panic!

@AKB: Many might not immediately equate Tochigi to being where it is and instantly link earthquake with tsunami, especially those new here or the older amongst us, a clear statement that one has not been generated helps to untangle any possible fears.

I was in Utsunomiya today but save for all the keitais' alarms, we didn't feel anything.
nath
btw, if it was epicentre Tochigi why would there possibly be a tsunami warning. More like avalanche, no?

Yes, we were swaying a long time here in Tokyo.

I was on 6th floor in Shibuya.
The building swayed enough to get some staff looking around but otherwise it barely registered.

I was on the 36th floor in Roppongi 1-Chome. A fairly strong rocking, like on the deck of a ship.

I'm in an office building near Tokyo station. It was swaying here for a while. Not very strong though.
WilliB
Tall building swayed in Tokyo? How? I didn´t feel anything here.

Just a gentle sway here in southern Tochigi. Hope everyone is OK.
Himajin

Janick Magne

Take care, everyone!
