And if you take 14:36 and turn it around you get 63:41, then if you add the last three number you get 68 - 6.8 the magnitude of the quake. I think you guys are onto something, I really do.

I even said to her, that she may not be able to have babies when she gets back if there are side effects from the nuclear exposure she is receiving now.

Did you base this on anything scientific? Because it's a pretty awful thing to say to a young woman unnecessarily. I don't think you'll find any proof that the amounts of radiation people are being exposed to in most of Tohoku. Please do some research on what kind of amounts of radiation are necessary to cause the kind of effects you are imagining (many thousands of times higher than current levels) before scaring your niece any more.

Apsara may have said the only intelligent thing on this thread so.

I barely felt it here in Tokyo, but hmm...no news about the Dai Ichi Fukushima Tokyo Electric Nuclear power plant?? Just because it has not been in the news, we should just think this problem has gone away???

@BurakuminDes

What are you doing up in Fukushima? Why haven't you gotten the heck outta there? I too hope there is no new damage done to the Daiichi plant. It is the last they needed now.

So, I wonder if the Japanese government is still thinking it is a good idea to be starting up the other nuclear plants now. How could anyone in their right mind consider such a move?

Family reasons, bro. Wouldn't be staying here if we had kids. Moving to another prefecture in 2 weeks, but still commute sometimes to Fuk. to work. Luckily we are not near the N-plant, but probably still too close for comfort. Trying not to consume too much Fukushima produce, but it's hard...the peaches are soooo damn good! And Fukushima city itself is the most bustling it has been for years - the population has actually gone up due to the thousands of evacuees coming.

I really worry that I'm going to log in one of these days and see there was a much larger one. I pray I never do -- people there are suffering enough. Hang in there over there!

The wind is blowing NE today. MEXT has stopped given out figures in English as of Aug. 7th. They must be on a summer break.

Emissions at the plant yesterday were 1.21 μSv/h

Not much fun here in South Iwate. The Mrs actually dragged me out the door the place was shaking so bad. Don't see any light yet at the end of the aftershock tunnel. Was in Tokai for the past week and it was so nice to get a decent nights sleep for a change. Back to life on the edge here in Tohoku.

this one was shallow, and widely felt-that's unusual. It was also quite long. I also notice that there continues to be regular quakes at a deep depth, which manages to keep me on my toes.

@ Foxie and Yokomoc

You both are correct. Numerology sure is something. below is an excerpt from NHK world english.

The Meteorological Agency says the latest quake is likely to be an aftershock from March. It warns that more strong tremors are possible during active seismic periods that will likely recur in cycles

It's just 8 days after they had M6.0+ aftershocks in Fukushima last time. I think it's time to reconsider the extension of evacuation zone. Fukushima city and Minami-Soma city are already exposed to radioactive substances--and their proximity to the Sanriku coastline is of concern to remaining residents if the big aftershocks keep rocking the Tohoku region.

Worried about those spent fuel rods in the damaged pool in number 4. Any news? Hope nobody was hurt.

She was a big one up here in Fukushima. I also really hope no-one was hurt - but it was a very violent shake so I fear the worst.

0 ( +1 / -2 )

Yeah...hope you are all okay in the affected areas.

Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said the quake caused no further damage to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, nor did it affect the Onagawa nuclear power plant in Miyagi Prefecture.

Declaring this minutes after the quake? Good to see they're as thorough with their inspections as always.

Thoughts are with friends working in the field up there today. Hope everyone got shifted to high ground smoothly.

Areas that used to be well above high tide, simply aren't anymore, so even for a small tsunami the recovery workers need to evacuate.

Burakumin, dont eat the peaches! I dont know you but however good they taste, it surely isnt worth the risk!!

0 ( +3 / -2 )

What are the emissions at the plant?

How is that the figures are never given?

And which way is the wind blowing now?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Sorry, didn't finish this sentence: I don't think you'll find any proof that the amounts of radiation people are being exposed to in most of Tohoku are enough to cause infertility

@yokomoc hahaha lol :)

Asagao:

" Worried about those spent fuel rods in the damaged pool in number 4. Any news? Hope nobody was hurt. "

If you have paid attention to the situation then you know that by now that pools has been fortified with a massive steel and concrete base underneath.

Noticed too that it is a Friday and at 14:36 that's just 10 minutes earlier than the one on 3/11

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I rest assured that there were no reports of injuries or damages.

Given this jolt, it is so good to hear that Japan at long last chooses to walk the safest, yet fastest way, the renewable energy, plus, according to a road map released July 19 by the Japanese government and TEPCO, reactors at the plant will be brought to a stable state known as cold shutdown by January at the latest.

I admire the Japanese resilience, God bless Japan !

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

don't worry......

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I`ve NOTICED EVERY FRIDAY/ SATURDAY there is an aftershock.

So the aftershocks are timed !!!!!

I SEE A PATTERN

March 11 was a Friday / Today is a friday coincidence ????????

Maybe a pattern

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

yokomoc And if you take 14:46 and turn it around you get 64:41, then if you add the last three number you get 9 - 6, the magnitude of the quake on 3/11 was 9 and the duration 6 minutes. I think we are onto something, I really do.

I have a niece who is now in northeastern Japan, from northern Ontario, Canada. She just completed her nursing degree here, and is off to assistant teach english over there for a year or two. All I keep thinking, is what is she thinking!!!! I worry about her every day. I even said to her, that she may not be able to have babies when she gets back if there are side effects from the nuclear exposure she is receiving now. I don't know, over protective aunt I guess. I remember myself tho, at 22 yrs of age, I was ready to conquer the world after completing 4 years of college many years ago. I think about what these poor people have experienced. I am a dog lover, and even have had nightmares about something happening like what has happened there, and what would I do with my 5 dogs. Sorry, just venting. Really enjoy the posts you folks share. Be safe all. :)
