How's the situation on mainland Kyushu? Specifically Kagoshima-ken? Anyone knows?

Everything seems normal here (Kagoshima City) now. There was quite a bit of shaking for a short time early in the morning but it doesn't appear to have caused any disruption or damage.

I'm not sure how many people have been outside, as it's still piety early, but my kids just left for school, so nothing too major. It just seemed to last forever, though. I think the main part that was scary was that we don't get earthquakes down here very often. That was the longest I've felt in Kagoshima.

Lin ZhiyongNOV. 14, 2015 - 08:03AM JST Hi is Tokyo affect? Worried cause I am flying to Tokyo tonight.

Tokyo is fine. For an earthquake off the coast of Kyuushu to damage things in Tokyo, it would have to be of such magnitude that we lose a few prefectures in between. We're talking large meteor impacts or supervolcano eruptions.

Tokyo & Tateyama are no where near Kyushu so no worries there

Probably hardly worth mentioning, but this is really close to the now declared safe, recently restarted Sendai nuclear plant.

144 km by road, probably 50 miles as the crow flies.

"really close to the now declared safe, recently restarted Sendai nuclear plant. 144 km by road, probably 50 miles as the crow flies"

Unfortunately, for earthquakes that kind of distance is nothing for seismic waves to travel and very quickly...indeed very parlous prospects for that nuke plant location.

Our prayers are with you.

Be safe everyone. Our prayers are with you. I'm guessing Fukuoka is pretty far North to be affected.

"A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the southwestern coast of Japan at 5:51 a.m. " A prone country and they want to throw the dice with turning back on reactors....oh well, good luck with that.

Please update us... How about in tateyama chiba are they affected?

OH NO!

It's a small world. This earthquake was felt as far away the UK , at least the seismometer did..

Glad no one was hurt, from the sounds of it. I live in Nagasaki and felt it here. My apartment building was swaying and it was a pretty eerie feeling. It was all the more eerie since at the time, I was playing Fallout 4, in the middle of a crazy firefight with explosions and for a second I was like, woah, how is the whole room vibrating and not just the controller?

is this affected in Niigata-shi, Niigata ? please if someone knows just tell me,, cos my brothert did not online that day and still not now, i am so worried.

Pearly Joy, up in Niigata this would not even be news. Check the map.

It's way down in the south-west of Kyushu, the other end of the country from Niigata.

My loved one in Kagoshima finally messaged me that she is fine. Thanks to you guys in 鹿児島 for the quick replies though. It set my mind at ease before I heard from her.

It was a small one.

To be clear re my post above, I mean from Makurazaki, mentioned in the article, to Sendai NPP.

A powerful 7-0 magnitude earthquake struck off the southwestern coast of Japan on 13 November 2015. No specific loss of life or property was reported. But since it was powerful, it could have caused. This Vedic astrology had predicted that during second half , particularly in months of October and November 2015 , Japan could be in focus in relation to likely earthquake. This prediction may be found having been made in June last in article – Total lunar eclipse of 28 September 2015 and world – in Summer 2015 issue of The Astrologer’s Notebook , a quarterly print publication from North Port , Florida. So the prediction has been accurate.

If you check the tsunami alert though, it's only projected to be a meter high or less.
