Lucked out again.

Long slow rolling motion for about a minute here north if Tokyo.

... "and the earthquake jiggled some more contaminated water into the sea..."

Woke me up. Glad to hear it wasn't so serious.

Lucked out again.

are you American or British? were you lucky or unlucky?

7.3? off the Fukushima coast? that's too close for comfort!

We were just very very lucky this time!!

"Mizuno said the operator of the troubled Fukushima plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co, said no damage or abnormalities have been found."

In other words, everything is still abnormal. Glad there was no major damage, in all seriousness, and no one appears to have been injured.

We should always be prepared for the worst!! Just lucky is great but when a big one hits us in Tokyo?? All hell will break loose!! If just on rainy days the folk here act like its the end of the world?? Just imagine when no food, no water, heat or electricity ?? Not good, not good! Mayhem and anarchy!!!

Elbuda, I suggest you put in a store of canned food that can be eaten directly from the can. That and a couple cases of bottled water will make all the difference. Try for variety in the canned food. I had 60 cans of potato soup when the Kobe earthquake hit and it grew old very quickly.

That sounds major. I was an hour north of Tokyo on a shinkansen in 2011 and remember it as about 30 seconds of violent, noisy, up and down all over the place kind of shaking that was 2 minutes of terror at the epicenter.

Just glad that all of us made it out ok..Stay as safe as possible ! :)

@Elbuda Japanese people are renowned for their discipline and order. Their generally exemplary behaviour following March 11 2011 was admired around the world. I can think of many countries where this certainly wouldn't be the case.

Stay safe everyone! If you haven't already, might be a good time to stock up on emergency kits. You never know when another big one will happen.

I thought that was the big one for a while as it just kept going. Sometime there will be a Tokyo mega quake, maybe tomorrow, maybe 100 years from now, but we all need to be prepared. Anyone who doesn't have 50 litres of drinking water and enough canned food for 2 weeks and a couple of a fire extinguishers wants looking at. Tokyo got the wake up call; we all need to be awake.

Better to build floating cities. I think Shimizu corporation was working on it. where is it?

7.3 is big but 290 km is far away.

Sitting in an Olympic stadium and experiencing an earthquake, might spoil the show ) Ive experienced so many 6.0 and above tremors it doesnt even bother me, but the first time was quite scary.

Wow, and I thought the bed was moving because of late night out drinking.... Now I can blame my moving slow this morning on the aftershocks...

" Not good, not good! Mayhem and anarchy!!!"

@el, Tokyo is not New Orleans. And instead of anarchy, don't you mean chaos? Chaos is the synonym of mayhem.

Wonder if there'll be another bigger one in a few days like 2011.

I'm glad there wasn't a big tsunami. Enough is enough.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Glad everyone is safe.

Aftershocks from the 2011 quake ? seems like quite a lot of time later for such things ,to me-what gives with that?
