Let's hope people don't try to hurt or kidnap our future mailman.

In the United States, automated robots are being used to make house deliveries of things such as medicines and groceries.

Yeah, but the robots are robbed at gunpoint by other robots.

In countries like U.S. or Brazil, this robot would be damaged, robbed or something like that LOL

If this happen in Japan, probably is an YouTuber.

Good for Japan, great technology. With the critical labor shortage, robots and drones are the best solution for mail delivery. Postmen will not exist within the next 5-10 years.

Great tech. Soon robots will be everywhere. In Japan, robots will help people. In the west, they will be using people from the third world. It will be interesting to watch.

I'd give it about 7 minutes until a senior shopper or smartphone zombie falls over one and breaks a few bones.

Japan is also stepping up its push for autonomous delivery services in the hope they will alleviate the acute shortage of cheap labor in the rapidly aging country.

Fixed it for you, Kyodo.

Add those to the smartphone zombies on the pavements and it's gonna become a real battle ground for those of us that like to actually get places quickly.

Whoa, acute labor shortage !

Well there are people who will believe any narrative that they are constantly being fed with.

Look at this thing! Just ridiculous. I am often baffled how bad Japanese are in designing things. Plus I am really not convinced by the utility of this.

The Postman Always Rings Twice.

Robots will take over most jobs in the years to come. This will be a blessing and a curse! Life will become convenient and accessible for some and yet unemployment will be really high. This in turn will increase the crime rate and in the end humans will suffer!

I'm all for the progress and development but this robot seems to be a bit of a 邪魔 (じゃま). Slow, clunky, and yet another thing that unnecessarily talks and has fairly annoying voice (perhaps just me, can't stand the anime like high-pitched voice).

lets kill off more jobs with more annoying robots !

Is it capable of climbing steps? most shops or building have steps or ramps, I see its use pretty limited to be honest.

Year 2030; roads will be flooded by self driving car, delivery drones, mail robots, VR-realtime tour-travels etc. What a jobless world it would be.

Oh give me a break! Japan still uses fax machines, do you really think that next week your mail will be delivered by a robot? Japan is not a leading country when it comes to innovative technology. They are good at copying what murica does.

"I'd give it about 7 minutes until a senior shopper or smartphone zombie falls over one and breaks a few bones."

LOL, I'd give 3 minutes until a foreigner urinates on it or sprays paint on it.

Bye bye foreigner labor.

Look at this thing! Just ridiculous.

it has to look cute with some stupid -kun name for the public to embrace it

"DeliRo"? sounds like a play on words of deliheru; bet the designers had a good chuckle over that.

Should help the unemployment figures.

Watched this on the telly. A woman stepped in front of it an it too several seconds for it to stop. Several. An inattentive bicyclist will both knock it over and injure themselves soon after it is deployed; not ready for prime time.

and it took

Sorry, need an edit function.

I can not use a Goped but this red job killer robot thing is allowed????????!

Well, someone better post the link so that people can access the serious danger to human life posed by this thingy, inni?

Will dogs chase the Robot ?

Robot mail delivery because of covid? That's a fraudulent narrative. Last I checked, the mail delivery person, puts the mail, in the mail box. Any contact can be mitigated by masks and protective shields and gloves. Much cheaper than robots. Where does such idiocy arise? Elon Musk? Bill Gates? Wow.

“the first of its kind on a public road in Japan”

You mean a public sidewalk?

Just what we need. Bad enough trying to dodge mama chari’s and Uber Eats manics and smokers when walking down the street without this thing that replaces the job of a human being.

I always thought that Honda's Asimo would have fit the bill for mail delivery. Adding automated electric vehicles to the blend would have been a win-win. But their vision never got past stairs...
