They would have to first define what a cult is and does it interfere with the constitutional right of religious freedom.

That is easier said than done. At my university we had screeching fundamentalist 'Christian' hatemongers - self-appointed 'clergy' sassing off and trashing everything and everyone. There also were ads for the Moonies, Nation of Islam and other dangerous cults. There were other smaller student led sects that came and went, led by one student and all the members (sometimes less than 10 students) would live in the same house to be ;closer to God'. Examples are 'Fellowship of Christian Students', 'Fish House', 'Xenos Christian Fellowship' (nicknamed 'Xenons') and 'Potter House'.

A real religion lasts over time, cults generally don't.

This is just an excuse to persecute those who have a biblical Christian worldview.

An all-powerful God would not let that happen. It's not like any believers ever died from persecution with their prayers for divine assistance unanswered. Have more faith.

A cult will ask you for money to help solve it's programs but expect you to pray to solve yours.

This is just an excuse to persecute those who have a biblical Christian worldview. They will persecute all religions so that there is only one left - the environmental religion or the worship of nature and the Holy book that AI will produce in the soon future. 2023 will be a consequential year for the whole world.

If increases in education levels and advancements in science have been gradually lowering religious numbers... Why are universities in the spotlight here?

Anyone who is already enrolled in a higher level of education should be deemed responsible enough to make their own decisions using common sense, no?

It's the poor and vulnerable we need to worry about. They actually have a reason to succumb to false hope.

AND, if it really is a problem at universities in Japan, then it goes to show how awful Japanese universities really are. Education statistics are very doctored here.

We could use this in NZ universities. It would just mean cutting all those 'identity and grievance studies' courses.

Just ban ALL religious activity from University campuses.

I think the anti-cult emphasis is in the wrong place here.

A good first step but seems very limited according to the article, the problem has been identified so it would be justified to act more strongly, at least so universities understand clearly how much risk is there for their students, not to mention that board announcements and flyers are not exactly the most effective measures against cult recruiting.

Why campus, is more politician that keep those alive.

What about cult members of the Japanese government belong too such as Nippon Kaiga

It's the politicians, not the students who need to be monitored for the influence of "cults" (and their money).

Maybe if they focused on education more that clubs, the cults would have less sway?

Shouldn't it be the government's job to ensure that these well-funded, tax-exempt groups are not allowed to prey on the vulnerable?

Considering how chummy the leading lowlights of the LDP are with these groups it is no surprise they are lax in their duties.

If not this cult, it will be the Japan cult anyway by default.
