A 59-year-old man was killed after he was flung overboard when the pleasure boat he was on collided with another boat, police said Thursday.
According to officials from the Yokosuka Maritime Safety Agency, the collision between the two pleasure boats occurred off Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. TBS reported the accident occurred approximately 2,400 meters east of the Tomyozaki cape between two boats named Kazumaru No. 3 and Chikakano No. 2.
Police said Yoshitake Okada was aboard the Chikakano II when the boats collided and was hurled overboard from the force of impact. Although rescue workers from the Maritime Safety Agency found Okada and plucked him from the water, he did not survive the trip to the hospital and was confirmed dead on arrival. According to reports, no one else was injured in the accident.
Maritime Safety Agency officials told reporters that at the time of the accident, the weather had been clear, the waves had been mild, and visibility was at a relative high, TBS reported. Investigators are looking into the events leading up to the accident.

The cause of death is being flung from a freaking speeding boat and hitting the concrete like water, perhaps being dragged under as well.

If it comes to light that the boat captains were neglecting duties will they be charged? I hope the man's family didn't witness the incident, how terrible.

Considering most Japanese drivers consider themselves to kings of the road and refuse to yield, I have no doubt the cause of this boating accident was the for same reason.

Not exactly close to shore so it's probably safe to conclude they were not in a crowded waterway. May have been in an area popular for sports fishing though.
Not obeying navigation laws? And probably travelling at speed, given the results. A real and increasing problem with some owners. Not just here, there's a lot of fools who should not be out on the water back home too.

Either it took too long to fish him out or he got injured severely somehow. Not a very good pleasure boat to be on.
