A man died after he jumped from a moving train onto the tracks in Yokohama, police said Thursday.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. Wednesday on the Keikyu airport express as it was passing through Tsurumi Ward. TBS quoted passengers as saying that the man suddenly rose from his seat, opened a window half way and then jumped out.
Police said the man fell onto the tracks and was confirmed dead at the scene.
The train operator said 56 trains were delayed for about an hour, affecting 21,000 passengers.

Please stop using trains to kill yourself. It's such a selfish thing to do. If you want to die, go somewhere far away and die quietly. The whole need not know!

I guess he missed his stop. - Could be time to do away with windows that open on trains. The trains are airconditioned, so they are not necessary.

Anyone who has ridden the KQ line can attest that this was no easy feat. These windows would be hard to manage if the train was stopped.

@disillusioned or make them open only 1/4th of a way. I prefer outside air more than the airco tbh.

I genuinely think a regions railways should club together and invest in two to four kilometres of track and run an empty automatic train up and down or round and round the said track. Advertise it for would be suicides, then one you can intervene with hope, love and advice at stations --the towering fencing either side of the track would not allow you to enter the track other than through 'stations'-- two the travelling public isn't inconvenienced and three no drivers traumatised. Different, controversial? Sure. Worth a try? I think so. IF it saves lives, why not?

Question: If the train was moving how did he get out of the train? Trains have an amazing technology called DOORS, if they are closed you cant get out. He climbed out a window???

Well, if the train was on fire, I'd go out a window, or cut the plastic part inbetween the cars.

With what? It's illegal to carry a knife in Japan.

If you really want to die... volunteer to donate your kidney! Having a living will in place just in case there are "complications" so that you save two lives instead of wasting you own!

I can't believe that opening a window on a train and then jumping out of it is an easy feat to be done in a matter of seconds. Did nobody on the train notice that this man was climbing out the window? Nobody thought to maybe grab onto him? Shame on them.

How is this news?

Did you read the article? It says exactly what happened.

May be he was on training: "Now pay attention, I'm only going to show you just this once.." But seriously this incident may appear self-centered but there may be two sides to this.

I have a modest proposal: Let's let convenience stores sell poison you can use to commit suicide in your own room without bothering anyone. For sale to adults of course, like alcohol. I have no pity for these people. They are such drama queens, jumping in front of a train. Really!

Sorry, you can't expect the government to save you from yourself. What if someone jumps out and still dies? There would be a lawsuit and the taxpayer ends up paying....for stupidity.
