Rabies is a terrible way to die - please get vaccinated before travelling to risky countries.

Rabies is largely a forgotten disease in developed countries and as a result, people don't think about getting infections immediately after being bitten by a dog. If you are in a country where rabies is endemic, never put your hand in a dog's mouth, even a domesticated playful dog. If there is any contract with the teeth, get infections straight away.

K3PO,they do not have vaccine for human, he could of infected others, since symptoms in human are asymptomatic for months

@yrral - there has been a rabies vaccine for many years. Now it is just 3-4 doses in the arm over one month.
It used to be a series of 12-14 injections in the abdomen, intraperitonal! Quite painful.

Ugh, a particularly horrible way to go. RIP

I attended a friend's wedding in one of the southern islands of the Philippines a couple years back. There were tons of dogs running around and even through the wedding ceremony. This type of story makes me think twice about petting the dogs that ran up to me there and in other Asian/Pacific Island countries.

Correct. And even if it is rabies free, it will probably be flea-ridden. If you do, keep your hands away from its head.
