Not really a surprise any way you slice it. The Osprey is hard to fly, and that is just as bad as having a design flaw in reality. Its just easier to downplay if they keep blaming the pilots. But they will still keep crashing.

Everything I've heard is that they are far easier to fly than choppers. The main issue is that they bring habits from choppers into the V22, and overcompensate for certain situations. I bet that if they just put auto-pilot on it you would have near zero crashes.

Yeah, right.. Of course. We then have a serious concerns on the level of training for pilots flying ( any military aircrafts ) in & out of Okinawa ! The U.S. Association of pilots ought to voice out their protest in this case.

Either way, the U.S. Military should be ashamed...If the aircraft itself has some fault or flaws, flying it over dencely populated residential areas would be akin to a crime. If the aircraft is "safe" but pilots are not good enough to fly, well then, more embarrassing ...

The more complex a machinen the more can go wrong with it. Opsrey is very complex. I still think Osprey has a bigger future vs the F-117 and the F-35. USA won't sell the F-22.

Looking at the tv-commercials for eye-sight 2.0. etc. I DO get worried as the stopping distance is very short, should be atleast 2-3 times that, how will the system react during a serious emergency braking or a car reversing from an accident?

None of the CM's do highway speeds, sudden breaking at those speeds can cause some serious Injuries.

Sorry, I trust myself as a Rider over a piece of electronic junk, which I didn't need for close to 30yrs.

The blade controls on a helicopter are physically more difficult, and the use of dual engines on some helicopters is harder than the osprey due to size constraints in the gearing between the engines. Controls though are less intuitive than they should be... They simply need better flyby wire until it is practically like a video game. If they manage that I would expect the number of crashes to decrease greatly.

@Naoko Idesawa-Ito

Basically what you are saying is all airlines should be shut down then. No aircraft or pilot is perfect. If anything military pilots are leaps and bounds more capable and professional than commercial pilots.

This situation is no more a crime than driving a shinkansen in the rain.
