There don't appear to be many kids in that photo of an adoring crowd.

Why don't they open their own Anime Park just as Disney from America?

Biggest Anime Park in the world, then some branch/shops in other countries.

MAP (My Anime Park), 2030.

I wanna see Moomin, Mickey and Pickachu on the same stage dancing together!! .. which would be possible in China! I suppose..

In the city of Hanno.

I give it four years, then it will be one of those ghost amusement parks like we have up here in Tohoku.

Stop giving Tohoku a bad name.

Hope they got permission to use those characters

How many roller coasters...that's the most important question. There's a theme park a few hours from where I'm living now called Morgan's wonderland. All the commercials do not show one roller coaster, just a princess and a carousel. That's not a theme park, that's a circus or carnival.

Backpackingnepal:

I second that. An anime theme park with constant updates to make it a continuous attraction, just as Disney has new characters and hence rides. Plenty of new animes coming out.

My preferred anime park is a hike in a free of charge natural park.

Beautiful trees and wild animals. A chance to have a chat with unknown relaxed people in a rest area.

And last but not least: quietness....

Buildings, exhibits, shops and restaurants? Wow. Cutting edge. Taking bets on a 2020 park closure.

They’re counting on nostalgia. Most kids and young adults probably haven’t watched Moomin, so after the initial visit to satisfy their curiosity, you’ll have declining attendance and inevitable closure. Too bad since I watched Moomin as a kid.

Moomin was my childhood until "Hufsa" came! That monster destroyed everything!:(

Joe, I can see how my post can be read as "Tohoku is one big abandoned amusment park", but that was not my intention at all.

I have lived here for 35 years and love the place.

I was refering to the real abandoned amusement parks that litter the place .

Actually there are people who hunt them out, climb the fences and visit them.

(My daughter's father-in-law.)
