A 26-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son died of injuries they received in a four-car accident in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, on Thursday night. The woman's 5-year-old son remains in a critical condition in hospital, police said.
The accident occurred at around 7 p.m. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that the woman, identified as Ayumi Sasaki, swerved from her lane into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a large tractor trailer truck, killing her and her youngest son Minato. Two other vehicles were caught in the pile-up.
Sasaki and her children were taken to hospital where she and Minato were pronounced dead, police said. The 5-year-old boy, Hayato, survived but is in a coma.

Call me Mr. Negative if you like, but was this mother 'multi-tasking' while she was driving?

That's horrible...I feel bad for the 5 year old...

I bet she was driving a kei-jidosha. They are totally unsafe.

It was a kei. The accident was reported on all the networks last night. Horrible accident. So sad. But I am sure a lot of larger vehicles wouldn't have stood a chance against that large truck.

RIP to mother and son, and I hope the other son can make a recovery.

Count your blessings. Take 5 minutes out of your day, list up the people you have not said it to for a long time, call them on the phone, and say, 'I love you'.
