Two headlines today: "Japan and the United States mulling a joint military drill to retake island" & "the MSDF showcasing warships". Nothing like provoking a situation is there!

Don't forget today's picture of the day too.

Nothing provocative here, just like US Pacific Command moving base from San Diego to Pearl Harbor.

noda is so polite to china , it is too much , Noda ! china is kind of lying , dishonest , bullying , and stealing , every one knows this fact , there4 being preparing for war with china is reasonable and correct , noda must not be shy to say ....
YuriOtani
What will the communist do about it? Moving the US fleet from San Diego to Hawaii did little to the balance of power.

No aircraft carrier? Surely we need one!

MSDF showcases "warships" on 60th anniversary. should we say DEFENSE SHIPS ?
TravelingSales
Moving the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet from San Diego to Pearl happened in 1940. The balance of power in the Pacific at that time did not involve Communists.
just-a-bigguy
joined by warships from the United States, Singapore and Australia
And China has deployed her latest conventional warhead IRBMs in response, sure they understood this message in minds!

Indeed, now the 7th Fleet is in Yokosuka. After the war, it was in Qingdao, China. Funny how things can change in a matter of generations. It makes one wonder what the shifting tides in Asia holds for the future.

We need Space ship Yamato!

Japan, playing the victim while being passive/aggressive. Nothing shocking there.

They need to retrofit the Hyuga and Ise with some F35s or at least some Harrier IIs. F35s would cripple anything in the Chinese navy, and Harriers would be fine against stranded ships.

A dog barks fiercely when it's afraid!

Barking??
JSDF preform this review every year.

Oooohhhh it's not a Bio-Hazard movie ?

Because, probably, he did not necessarily mean that conflict.
I would not put much hidden background into this MSDF showcase. It is an anniversary event. It is natural to show, also to the population, that there is power and courage, and someone, who defends. Why not to make a small parade? It is not bad, really.

"A dog barks fiercely when it's afraid!"
@yosun:
Do you mean like the military parades that the PRC holds?

China also had some island taking military drills lately so both CN and JP are barking dogs. however golden medal winner is that Noda spoke (shouting style) really like barking dog is exactly what I mean. (u know what I mean if u watched TV news).

Describes China's diplomatic skills perfectly.

Well, The Commies had better take a Long Look across The Sea and know what they're up against if they try anything stupid.
Japan and The United States have a coalition of partners that are willing to stand up against Communist Aggression!
Bravo Zulu to The U.S. Seventh Fleet, The Japan Maritime Self Defence Force, The Australian Navy, and The Singapore Navy.

Don't forget the Phillipines, Vietnam etc all of whom see China as a threat.

China might be a threat, but compare to west, the trade with Vietnam is increasing significantly every year. Chinese money seems to talk well with Vietnamese. Last month, Chinese President Jintao and his Vietnamese President Sang met and they express great importance to the friendship. Vietnam is ready to work with China to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance mutual trust, promote economic and trade cooperation. The Vietnamese side is ready to work with the Chinese leaders and push for an early resolution of the disputes through peaceful and friendly consultation.
