Could the winter actually become colder this year?
Could decreased activity on the sun actually be responsible for lower temperatures?
I will have a wager on Xmas day snow this year...

Isn't this a good sign? Could this be the effect of reduced carbon emissions due to the pandemic restrictions? Just guessing here but I'm imagining that Mt Fuji during the pre-industrial revolution era having snow by as early as August or even earlier.

it looks amazing.i have climbed up the mr fuji, i hope to do it again in near future once everything is settled.

A quick blast of mid October temps at the moment. It's still been a hot year though.
Winter is forecast to be La Nina, which can mean more snow. We've had some poor ski seasons in recent years, so more is very welcome!

Burning Bush nailed it.

Japan's Autumn and Spring seasons keep getting shorter and shorter.

I'm in Fukushima and it does feel colder than last year this time

It is so beautiful.I could see it even in Tokyo
The nice scenery is the result of the high pressure system has been dominating across Japan and dry and cold air flowing down.
The period of La Niña has started and likely continue as we go into this winter.
If so, there will be a trend that high pressure systems dominate and cold air coming from Siberia often more than normal.

That's awesome. Polishing the snow ski's now.

@Toshihiro
Yes, to be fair it is a good sign. But I think we’re jumping the gun a bit in terms of the carbon emissions. Because as I’ve heard quite a few times, weather does not necessarily equal climate. or some form of that statement.

Burning Bush, 10/10 for that comment. Silence from the usual XR nutters

Yeah I agree, this is very welcome indeed! I live in the US, on the East Coast, and I can say that the summers have been very hot here as well. I’m no meteorologist, but hopefully that will mean that we on the East Coast of the US, will get more snow as well.
And really nice to see whole bunch of positive comments here. Considering the overall environment, no pun intended, this was a very welcome sight as well.

Yes, of course! Summers will get hotter, winters will get colder and start earlier, or they won't happen at all. Something like that.

Great, can never have enough of Mt Fuji pictures.
Climate change is real, whether you believe it or not.

Actually anybody serious about the issue won't seriously laud snow on one mountain and one country as proof of a global trend. However, when dealing with people who refuse to accept the complexity of both weather patterns and climate change it might cited as an example once some scientists have analyzed all the data and come to a researched conclusion why this happened.
I don't know what you expect. I don't think anyone posting here is an actual climate scientist.
Also, BTW, lies travel twice around the world before the truth can even get its pants on. Its a big part of the reason why patience is a virtue.

When I was a lad, we expected an ice age, then we were all going to bake in high temperatures, then they couldn't make up their minds so along came "climate change". Roughly translated as...... weather. Who knew..

Climate change is real, whether you believe it or not.
Yep. It's a natural consequence of us humans pump millions of tons of CO2 into the environment.
In_japan
Nope: Amount of snow, snow cap for total number of days (in a year) and wide fluctuation would be more reasonable proof.
krustytheclown
What a pretty picture! Fantastic!
Vanessa Carlisle
More impatience followed by oversimplification. In fact, some scientists are still predicting an ice age. That is based on a prediction of reduced solar activity. Those who predict we will bake are not people who study the sun but rather Earth climate. Some people might be banking on the two effects cancelling each other out, but the fact is that average global temps have been rising for decades and that rise is increasing in pace. The pace is unprecedented as far as we know.
Its also worth noting that oil companies hid research they had concerning CO2 and global warming for decades. And if you think oil companies stopped there in their quest to sell us all out for profit and slow and damage our understanding of what is happening, then I am a Nigerian princess in need of a few thousand dollars so I can get then release my $100 million inheritance and reward with $1 million!
ClippetyClop
Nobody is denying that. In fact it helps us to understand the current situation much better
All of those historical changes have had causes. So what's causing this one? Climate change on a global scale cannot happen without a cause. And 'Mother Nature' is not a cause, as 'she' is subject to the same laws of physics as any other mother.
The EPA has some information that might help explain things to you.

On the 28th. Sep., last monday morning around 7:20am when I was about to get to the job in the Konousu, Saitama area, the sky was so bright and cristal blue that I saw the Fuji san so magnific in its white cloak! Unfortunately today, tuesday, the snow has already gone and melted! The snow there came so early this year what probably means this gonna be a very cold winter!!!
