Why not simply a lock of my hair, since if these 737 Max's fly again, and I'm on one, you'll need some DNA to identify what parts of me are stuck to ground.
Facial Recognition is "soooo" unreliable.

What are you talking about?? I will end perfectly fine, for the STATE and their ability to control you completely.

.The human mind no matter how educated can and is eadily manipulated. All that is needed is throwing in a bait or reasonable enough reason.

Its still bothersome and humiliating to get fingerprinted when I come back every time. Why can't we just have facial recognition when we touch down on Japan instead of fingerprinting?
Wolfpack, I usually do not see eye to eye with your comments but you are spot on here!

Technology is on the cusp of creating a Orwellian world of oppressive state surveillance. Combined with the inclination of even Western nations to limit freedom of speech and private companies to fire and punish employees for incorrect views and you have a society that will invite social unrest. Privacy is in the process of no longer being a human right.

sounds good, but whats the real reason immigration doesnt do it as well? let me guss ,they need to keep the useless parasites on a payroll?

Foreigners are photographed and fingerprinted anyway on arrival in Japan, so it doesn't make much difference to me. If it speeds things up while boosting security it sounds like a good idea.
I experienced in at Changi last time I went and it wasn't a problem at all.

Facial recognition at the airport - Your image is inserted into the immigration database. Japanese immigration is controlled by the Ministry of Justice, same people as the police. Now you're part of the criminal database whether or not you've ever been in trouble with the law.
It won't be long before they set up facial recognition cameras at crosswalks and other public places. Jaywalked across an empty street in the middle of the night? Prepare for a police and immigration visit at your home!
Sure to be downvoted but you will see - give it 10 years, I promise that this is coming.

So it's speedy....untill you have to present your passport at the bottle neck.

Why do we need to copy the Chinese?
Kenji Fujimori
Privacy law act, out the window ay Abe? just churning out tax payers money to NEC, all because China is pretty much 1984 in their surveillance and 'AI'

Well, I'm as black as the ace of spades and worked fine for me.

theResident, does it work well across races in Singapore? I've heard a lot of these systems fail to recognize/identify people with darker complexions.

Works well in Singapore. Will work well here. I hope it will get extended to Haneda also.

This won't end well.
