Here in Kobe there are more than a few restaurants staffed by Nepalis. I have found them to be a polite and hardworking bunch of people. If any readers would like to find and support Nepalis in Japan by patronizing their restaurants now would be a propitious time to do so....

I met a lot of lovely people when I taught at a international school that included a bunch of Nepalese here in Japan. I am worried about one student that went home and posted his wedding pictures on facebook a few hours before the quake, but has not updated since. I hope to hear something from him soon. Thoughts out to all the people of Nepal.

In a natural calamity like the deadly earthquake that ravaged the tiny Himalayan kingdom there are bound to be many such touching human stories involving millions of people heavily impacted by the tragic incident! If one has to spot a nation that has repeatedly faced such calamities it can be none other than Japan!

Lovely and sensible advice. I'll "itadakimasu" this weekend.
