How can you “discover” something that’s been around and known and given a name for a long time?

@justasking Spiranthes flowers are miniscule and very common so is not surprising a new species was hiding in plain sight.

The variety was known, but the species not. It is common to find new species of bugs that are very similar to other species until examined closely.

Agree with you.

The new species that can be discovered are always variant of existing one.

Maybe in the sea, there are still real discoveries to be done
