No where near the airport, it is still another 20 KM's away on another train line (the monorail) which DOES NOT go to this new station.

Kengo Kuma the only architect available in Japan? Here are some renders of how it will look like when its finished:

Okachimachi Station and Ueno Station has only 300 meters. It may be the shortest distance of stations but the plan to remove Okachimachi Station was scrapped by the oppositions of businesses and shops of Okachimachi.

It’s 12 kilometers from Haneda, not 20km.
Ganbare Japan!
Looks amazing! Excellent design, modern and really convenient. I submit that this new station to be called "Olympia Station". I hope to win!

How original!

Really, it's almost quicker and more convienent to walk.

I have a feeling it'll just end up being called the Sengakuji 泉岳寺 Station, which I have ZERO problem with. It makes total sense since the new station will be directly adjacent (and will most likely be connected) to the Sengakuji subway station underground.

Above statement is correct.
12, not 20.

Alex, have to agree it looks bland and uninspired. A classic example of third rate institutional modern architecture.

Higashi-Sengakuji Station.

I know! Call it the ShinShin Eki ( 新新駅三十番)。。。

seems like a no-brainer.
Still lots of people in planning who have no brains though.
Just wondering if Hamamatsucho Eki has passed its use-by date. It always has looked like it had from my first time in 1985 to my last time earlier this year. Monorail is always my preferred mode of travel to Haneda if I have to go - a bit out of the ordinary in a 1960s Tomorrowland kind of way.

I think it will be called Heisei, or maybe Heisei-Sengakuji.

Call it 2020 eki. That's because no one even remembers there is a year 2019.

@gogogo
It is located at and will probably connected to Sengakuji-eki which has one-line service to Haneda airport 24-minutes away. If they make an express train might even be faster. Much more convenient than the airports in New York, London, etc.

My guess is Shin-sengakuji.

Good... where I stay when I'm in Japan is close to Okachimachi station and it's very very convenient to get to anywhere else for me.
This new one does look very modern... I like it.
