here it is an embarrassing unprofessional mis-mash website typical indicative of Japanese not enlisting assistance of foreigners to make it easy to read good luck ! https://jsite.mhlw.go.jp/tokyo-foreigner/english.html

.......on one floor of a building located in front of JR Yotsuya Station in the capital's Shinjuku Ward.

Is that the best you can do for access and contact information?

Sifting through and understanding all the rip-offs involved with rentals and getting your key money back, watching the butterflies flutter around city hall looking for red stamps, trying to register a car are just a few of the huge hassles faced by Non-bilingual foreigners in Japan. Hopefully, this support center will give people the help they need to get through these mind fields without stating, “This is Japan!”

Well. considering that the J-govt is not allowing any foreigners back into Japan when if they have a visa, house, job, company or family, maybe they can toss in a few yen or apply some pressure to MOFA to keep their promises instead of paying rent in a high end area just to show us how to use a Hanko.

...the page looks like it was made in 1990, not 2020. O_o

I just read that many International People have left Japan due to CoronaVirus. Is this correct?

I'm sure many did. Just as many stayed. It's not like people are a unified entity who all do one or the other with no dissenters. When the doors were being shut, people had to decide which side they wanted to be on when it happened.

How about Housing? Getting a credit card? Applying for residency on your own?

Question 1 - 'why can't I travel home for family reasons and be allowed re-entry like Japanese residents.?'

The center, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays

Sweet. Very useful for the working professionals that they hope to accommodate.

This is great but housing still remains a major issue. All the above is effortless without adequate and affordable housing for foreigners.

This is nothing but Lip Service (not in the Japanese sense) to make it look like they’re doing something for all that TAX ¥¥ you’re paying.

I wonder who had the fine idea of opening a branch in Kabukicho :)

@Vinke

2000 - 2015 it is written on the bottom....obviously website was created 20 years ago!

This new center doesn't even provide a way to email or message someone. What about the current entry ban on foreign residents? How are they supposed to get help? It seems they are not even on their radar screen. We don't need to waste tax money on window dressing. The government needs to act NOW to assist it's TAX-PAYING foreign residents whose lives and livelihoods have been destroyed with this discriminatory COVID-19 immigration policy. If you haven't already done so, please check out this petition and add your name as a signatory if you feel so inclined: http://chng.it/HZqkk9bFZc

LETS HOPE THIS PROJECT WORKS.

@I have no faith in this kind of services. I used it once or twice and have to tell you it looks great on the paper. They of course found me a job but every time I went over for an interview, they lowered the salary, plus no bonuses or anything like that.

Same applies to housing even today, except once a house is finally found, the rental went up and much smaller than regular rentals for citizens. I personally know two families with the same income and household resident size and location. The local pays way less than the foreigner for the same type of dwelling. Go figure.

Will they consider long term residents with family law issues in this new establishment?

Its not about coming in line with the rest of the countries for shure, but we are not Ainu.

If only the center matters, what about the rest of us autsiders so far?

As much as the website looks like a site created in 1999, I'm glad they've made this effort to consolidate and find a central location to help non-Japanese.

Be careful people it could just be another detention centre. A funnel to degradation.
