nuclear weapons won't end and in fact as many people here already know, product is increasing.
I truly appreciate your insight. Yes, you are absolutely correct the nuclear weapon production has been alarmingly increasing in recent years.
My highest respect and honor to those who are in Hiroshima adovocating peace. In my eyes, they are the true peace makers in humanity.

They should meet and discuss how to prevent Peace Prize being awarded to fakers, or Peace Prize being used for various political agendas.

“Hiroshima makes you aware of the reality of what will happen if you try and invade other countires and massacre their civillians.” Gov Hidehiko Yuzaki said.
Fixed.

what a load of old crap! Nuclear weapons will not be abolished ever. In fact they will be made evermore efficient and all the time better and more deadly weapons are and always will be invented.

blueotter: "And don't get me started on the war crimes the Japanese committed!"
...and the many war crimes of the allies before, during and after wwII?
anyway that has nothing to do with continued potential use of nukes or other "immoral" weapons and wars.

Tea Party and press release of well prepared statement, written months ago !

“These atomic bombs were used on the Japanese people to terrorize the rest of the world,”
Uhh, no. They were used because the Japanese did not want to surrender! And don't get me started on the war crimes the Japanese committed! This is just perfect; a bunch of self-righteous kooks getting together to talk about peace and love and all that fairy-tale nonesense. The peace price lost its value a long time ago and is completely worthless! I guess these libtards are going to end the world with their own stupidity!

I agree with point of view, but at the same time they are in an 'ideal' position to specifically call for an end to the use and existence of nukes -- one of the biggest threats to humanity. You can call for an end to violence or what have you anywhere, but some places are going to be more appropriate for calls to an end of a certain kind of violence than others.
And while this was going on, the supposed 'leaders' of many nations were bickering about lowering/raising currency rates so THEIR country could benefit, etc. We're never going to make it as a species, people, since it's always only after the fact that we can see the harm in something -- doesn't matter what it is. I hate to be a pessimist, but it's pretty clear the people who have learned anything from what happened are outnumbered by a majority who either doesn't know, interprets the end result to their own benefit because they themselves did not suffer, or just don't care enough to do anything about what's actually important. Sad, but true.

Ironically, the only reason these peaceniks are able to freely assemble in Japan is because nuclear weapons were used.

ironic that no one mentions that Japan is a major weapons supplier for the US hmmm

Agree with pointofview.
Many commercial warheads now outperform tactical nukes on destructive power.
The Nukes used on Japan in modern terms were very low-damage compared to current weaponry

They should be meeting to call for an end to all destructive materials and violence not just nuclear weapons. More forms of destruction have been far more present in the world in recent times than anything nuclear.
