A small gathering of Senior Citizens, largely ignored by global media ! Their intentions may be good but who's there to implement them? Obama is here in Japan but under the shade of Buddha !

Banning nuclear weapons would not end the suffering of the many innocent killed by machetes, bullets or conventional bombs. Banning wars would be an idea and an equally illusionary one like banning nuclear weapons.

“Nuclear weapons cannot be disinvented, but they can and must be outlawed, just as chemical and biological weapons, landmines and cluster munitions have been declared illegal,” she said.

They’re living in a dreamworld.

Why these good ,wise people don't have any power ? While the ONE with enormous power is staying away? sad but not surprised.

“Obama has disappointed a lot of us. He has not given us that leadership that the world is desiring”

He has plenty of time to do that after his presidency. He has other problems to consider before eliminating nuclear weapons.

Dalai Lama is NOT Tibetan spiritual leader from long time ago. If you ever went to Tibet, people there have no sense of this "spiritual leader" already.

M C Maguire: I too am disappointed with Obama and I truly question just who he is representing. I too, want a nuclear weapons ban, nut again I wonder at just how Obama would vote and please recognize that once "pandora's box" is opened, we will never be able to close it. I will mean the end of the world as we know it.

Drugs are also declared illegal...so I guess there are no drugs in the world.

Banning nuclear weapons will endanger fallout games.

thats great an all, but what are we going to do with 15,000 nukes that the world has stock piled. I think it closer to 12,000 but I may be wrong.

Fun to see the spineless Japanese media ignoring/downplaying Dalai Lama's visit in order to please the press clubs that are pressured by a government which is just too eager to lick China's feet. These are days of shame for Japan.

Nukes are good. We need them.

I wonder why they argue for nuclear weapons ban in Japan? Japan doesn't have nukes.

How about we also ban Imperialism and funding to Yasukuni? Not gonna happen.

I like how everyone is so pro-peace after they lost the war. It's refereshingly opposite to how they were before the war. You know, when they were invading all their neighbors, killing and enslaving, and profiting in every way possible through war.

Oh but ban the nukes, because we got nuked. Hypocrites.
