"...spicy noodles with sheep’s intestines and pig lung."

Maybe all those customers are only there for the food.

This Daioyu / Senkaku issue is really getting annoying.

Without US intervention, why not let the China & Japan duke it out with their navies. Winner takes those islands. End of story.

What a loser couple.

Yeah, because war is always better than negotiation. Always.

You stay classy, China.

Thank you, Ishihara!

"May I take your order?"

"Yes, I'd like a large bowl of Senkaku Soup, along with Tiannemen Crackers and Free Tibetan Tea."

Now that would be an epic troll job there.

Apparently the counter is a very realistic model of a Chinese aircraft carrier - it doesn't move, or float.

What is this article? Free publicity for nationalistic communist Chinese?

With Kellogg-Briand Pact and UN Charter Article 2, use of force or even threat by using force is prohibited to change territorial integrity.

Japan has been proposing settlement through International Court of Justice, whereas China has been sending gun boats to the islands.

The islands belong to China so why make ridiculous things like these.

-21 ( +1 / -22 )

"'Diaoyu Islands belong to China' was a phrase engraved deeply on our minds when we were young kids. So this matter is quite important to me, and to Chinese people."

Isn't this a form of brainwashing? Every country does it to some extent, but I am surprised she can say it so clearly and not question it.

I'm not sure if I admire the mainland approach to mindless nationalism more than the US/Tea party/Westboro Baptist version; at least, the mainlanders don't drag God into the discussion (although their attitude smacks of CCP divine right).

So his counter is a rusty slab of early cold war era steel?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It's amusing how China refuses the issue over the islands to be arbitrated, they know they don't own them. Likely eating too much pig lung and sheep intestines is causing behvaioural disorders

The worst part?

There is no way to acknowledge history and accept mutual understanding. This, this isn't possible. There can never be a shared recognition, all must be spent in wasting millions on non-sense, because everyone is so wise and intelligent.

"Customers eating delicacies including “Diaoyu hand grenades” (banana fritters) and “Diaoyu heavy artillery” (sweet potato balls) said they came to the restaurant to show support for the manager." - article

It will be great fun to kill over what could be peace and neutral respect. Bloody hell, can't have that.

"It was not like what other (restaurants) said-'Japanese people and dogs are not allowed to enter'

Ah, the human race. After decades of being humiliated by Western powers hanging similar signs in "their parts of China" barring Chinese from entering parks, restaurants or other public places, once they get their own freedom, what do they do? Forbid others from the very same thing, of course!!

It's not just Chinese, of course...I'm old enough to remember when it was "OK" to see similar signs around Japan (banning foreigners from gambling parlors, "snacks" and some public baths) while of course African Americans, South Africans, Indians and even the Irish can remember experiencing or seeing similarly racist signs in their regions. That's why I sigh for the human race in toto. We've got to overcome this stupid Neanderthalic reaction before the intolerance kills us all!

China can have full sovereignty on this noodle shop. Senkaku will be decided by I.C.J. and world body. Owners try to cash in, and who is actually behind this? Regardless, Chinese worship money and burned symbolic money to take with them, even to next life at the funeral? Most Chinese would do anything for the money. Enjoy your chicken feet.

His wife and co-owner Zhang Yanchunzi, dressed in a military officer’s tunic, added: “‘Diaoyu Islands belong to China’ was a phrase engraved deeply on our minds when we were young kids. So this matter is quite important to me, and to Chinese people.”

So his wife was born in 2012? Or maybe she had the mind of a young child in 2012? That is the only way I can make sense of this, because I highly doubt anyone cared about this issue before than.

Smart business plan: Sell the ideology, the food is just a by-product.

The owner couple have most likely been born sometime after 1960, probably much later. I can say this because China started to claim those islands after 1972, the one year after the release of the discovery that there was a massive amount of rich natural resource lying in the seabed around the islands.

Two things japan should do, first instead of wasting money on military get friendly with China and make the islands jointly controlled demilitarised economy zone. Second stop denigrating and upsetting Russia and instead sweet talk them in shared nonmilitary economy only use of the northern islands without insisting on political annexation. They have a chance to achieve something that way while no chance to get ahead any other way. China is interested in natural wealth around the islands rather than actual islands. In case of Russians, one will never get something from them by force and now is the best time to achieve something by being nice instead. They are not so worried about economic importance of the Islands but will never let them be taken over for the fear of becoming American military bases.

Those banana fritter hand grenades really pack a wallop.

‘Japanese people and dogs are not allowed to enter’

How about Chinese dogs?

As a part-Neanderthal, I protest your insensitive remarks.

They're very welcome.

But you never see them leave... ; )

okitokidoki: "As a part-Neanderthal, I protest your insensitive remarks."

Ha! You go back a ways, don't you? Could probably tell those Chinese a thing or two about history! Still, it's that extra 0.12% of DNA that makes all the difference between a rational human being and a...well, a 'Diaoyu hand grenade'-eating Neanderthal, I suppose.

No personal offense meant: Please don't let my thoughtless comments go to your (oversized but rather under-developed) head!

This site is fun, but nationalistic spats about uninhabited islands definitely are not!

The kellog briand pact, article 2 . . . . Bla- bla-bla. . .

Who cares!! China sends their fleets cause they mean business. The sooner Japan recognizes this and deals with it, (without USAF intervention) the better. Politics=Power. Nothing more.

I just remember food labels stating "made in a factory that process milk and soy" Most chinese and korean food should say "made in a restaurant that process mice and dog"

So Russia is ultimately one of the most cowardly nations, huh?
