Nuclear watchdog says safety culture not good enough after documents falsified

Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of safety checks have been regularly skipped over the years throughout Japan's nuclear industry.

What is different about this one? :sigh:

Just amazing, isn't it? That falsifying safety documents is not a violation of the law. This point should be hammered into the heads of every news viewer until they realize fully that public safety is not necessarily a legal issue, it is about cozy deals and conventions largely beneficial to large corporations. There is a law though - loads of them - for the coffee shop owner and the hair stylist and every other small business, you can be sure of that.

Not the first time for falsified documents, TEPCO was caught out on that one and recently the IAEA stated their emergency and safety document for it Niigata plant was just not good enough in post Fukushima.

Chugoku Electric on June 30 said it had not conducted the mandatory inspection of equipment for handling low-level nuclear waste, yet had recorded that the checks were carried out.

“It is not a violation under law, so I don’t think we would take legal action,”

Good thing the people in charge of this nation don't give one iota about what the people think -- already they've just approved another NPP for reactivation despite this PROOF that the industry is third-world in its reality of practices, and it's coverups.

So, falsified documents by regulators on the safety of nuclear reactors and waste is not against the law, but not 'culturally acceptable' (even though clearly it is), eh?

"..establish measures to prevent a recurrence" hopefully means we will fix this and do all the safety checks and not "we will be consistent in our lies".

Safety check of low level nuclear waste is just tools and disposables used in nuclear handling. They dont pose risks to people.
