TEPCO's countermeasures are always short-sighted.

Nuclear watchdog team inspects Fukushima water leak.

Read: Abe's poodle marks territory

well, since all tanks are full, i wouldnt be surprised if the leaks are deliberately

If the NRA had been doing its job to begin with, this situation would never have happened. Now they step in sending a 15 person team to stem the flow of information. Hardly a group to really trust.

Cue Simpsons theme! - What is this watchdog actually gonna do? I get so sick of hearing about agencies, watchdogs and committees. How about an action group?

TEPCO Failed FULL STOP .

Does anyone have a second home in Hawaii they are willing to sell or lease out?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Even the general public could see that. Why aren't they doing something about it?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The U.N.‘s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Wednesday it viewed the situation at Fukushima “seriously” and was ready to help if called upon

They're ready to help but of course Japan is not asking because they have a problem with asking for help. Even international tsunami aid should of been accepted a lot faster, but you know they're, Japanese so they have a pride complex.

Such a beautiful place will be one of the first places worldwide to cop the flow of radiation from a large outpour at Fukushima if they don't do something soon ( which seems highly unlikely as the elements of nature are against them).

This is an embarrassment for Japan and the Government is not taking this seriously enough. TEPCO have failed. At the very least, the Japanese Government must take this matter over immediately and see this through to complete resolution. It is a no brainer to understand that the future of Japan in terms of the survival of the people; realistically priced energy; international understanding and dialogue and even the success of Abenomics resides with the immediate resolution of this major catastrophe. The failure of Tokyo to get the 2020 olympics may be the alarm that is required; Japan, this is your wake up call..

Nuclear watchdog says TEPCO failed to properly monitor tanks.

The poodle barked!!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Nuclear Watchdog failed to check TEPCO for tank monitoring. everybodys fault, what did they expect those cheap tanks to all hold water. ha

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Uh-oh! The NRA is starting to distance themselves from TEPCO instead of standing behind them. Could mean trouble for TEPCO. My question is, the NRA knows about all this, so what are they DOING about it? I mean, saying, "They failed to do this and are really quite careless" at the same time as you allow them to keep on doing it?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Disillusioned, When government is involved there is always agencies, watchdogs that sit and sleep but they get paid. Government needs committees to show the people they are serious. In the USA they stopped calling them committees they are now task forces, same thing that leads to nowhere and nothing but people getting paid to pass the buck. They need to just hire a nuclear clean up crew and believe me, there are people who will know what to do but they can not get passed government because they did not attend the right schools so they can not be experts.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Not that I'm on TEPCO's side, but what about the construction company that actually built the tank. What are they saying?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Tepco is doing its best for the no nuke cause by its negligence and denials The more they cover upped in the beginning the worse it becomes further down the line of work .Basically they don't have the knowledge or the proper type of workers and inspecting staff for quality control that is important in this issue. It will be too late when a few more of these facilities blow up or to fix.

"It's like a haunted house, one thing happening after another," said Nuclear Regulation Authority Chairman Shunichi Tanaka, referring to the spate of problems at the plant. "But we must take any steps that would reduce risks to avoid a fatal accident."

One thing happended after another because you are a bunch of lax incompetent dorks who did nothing prior to the disaster to in effect avert a disaster when warned of the safety hazards that were neglected.

Its a shame that Japan's international reputation will be burdened with this farce and everyone can see the total lax of urgency and competency required.

This is an embarrassment for Japan

Embarrassment? Not at all, you did not cause this disaster. Instead, your energy should be focused on the solution.

When is a single responsible TEPCO executive going to be sent to prison? And why are we all paying increased electricity bills to pay for their ineptness?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Such a bright ideal to begin with, trying to put the entire flowing river in cheap barrels. Of course sooner or later they'll run out of space. They'd have to keep on making barrels to eternity and they still wouldn't be enough barrels.

When is a single responsible TEPCO executive going to be sent to prison?

When do we send all these moron voters to prison who have been voting for LDP that is for pro nuke? It all goes back to an apathy of Japanese voters. Japan does not have a true democracy. Sorry to say.

Tepco is making Japan look so stupid

3 ( +5 / -2 )

They seem to lack the precise planning that Japan is know for. It is like the "Three Stoogies" opened a power plant,

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Where was this agency when saps were drinking ground water on TV, when support Fucashima Farmers by eating the food add campaign was on, when rice is planted so close to the site, fish are declared safe. There is a whole lot of wrong going on. Workers safety, and of course accountability. Now that really would be regrettable.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

The tanks were built in JPN, cheap junk

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Not that I'm on TEPCO's side, but what about the construction company that actually built the tank. What are they saying?

The tanks were a rush order makeshift solution to collect water from the cooling pools in the weeks after 3/11 that were relatively cheap and could be put together quickly. Tepco got what it paid for but the fault presumably doesn't lie with the construction companies.

Freedom in election progress in democratic society has one critical element, that is a responsibility and accountability. You need to start owning your responsibility instead of blaming others. In this case, Japanese voters have been electing LDP for years that has been known as a nuke energy political party. All past CEOs and senior managers of TEPCO were political puppets for the LDP. Your comment "this is an embarrassment for Japan" should read as "shame on us, as we have been electing LDP that failed us. and we are still not taking it seriously enough."

I believe there is nothing world can do at this moment as this is a relatively new problem nobody have experienced before. So you do not have to feel embarrassed to the world. Nobody know what to do. Good luck.

The word here is MONEY. They should be making heavy walled tanks with water level sensors. Of course. TEPCO wants to make profit...

And I need to add J. government and TEPCO are not seeing any international help.

Folks one of the biggest problems with Fukushima & ALL of Japan comes down to two words

sempai & kohai..............

Thank about those two words for a couple moments & you know I am right, these two words are intricately liked with ALL the problems Japan faces not just 3/11!

Until Japan starts to understand what the word MERIT means we will continue to see cases of the sever inept again & again non-stop, to me its sickening to watch the train wreck that Japan is continue down its tracks

And it doesn't need to happen, but the ride downwards continues unabated

This is the report of the IAEA visit in April and recommendations about the water handling: http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/focus/fukushima/missionreport230513.pdf

the advice: to filter, dilute, and dump it in the Pacific......

So as such that is what Tepco is already doing in uncontrolled way.

Japan has a problem and they should be asking U.S. or E.U. for help. It is a big mistake if they don't. They need it badly. Fukushima problem happened once and it could happen again, and prepare for more. There is no time to waste. There is a lack of clarity about the water situation and the continued attempts by Tepco to deny that water was leaking into the sea. There is no guarantee that there isn't a crack in the walls of the spent fuel pools. If salt water gets in, the steel bars would be corroded. It would basically explode the walls, and you cannot see that; you can't get close enough to the pools.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They need to start dumping in huge quantities of lead pellets into the burned out reactor rather than just water to cool the reactor down. Lead contamination can be corrected very quickly, but radiation contamination is long lasting.

Congratulations Tepco , for turning one of the most beautiful places in the world into a complete hellhole, it's a crime against humanity.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Am I being completely out of my mind in thinking that TEPCO should have long since been ousted, those in charge tried and put in jail, and that competent and able people should have been put in charge of this situation? I mean... isn't it pretty f-ing serious?? Nuclear contamination leaking and poisoning the environment unchecked!! Going on 3 years now!! I feel very sorry for the people who already have been, and who will suffer more from the stupidity and carelessness of greedy, ignorant, despicable Japanese bureaucrats.
