Most local doctors have been locked out from the vaccine system in Tokyo by the government.

My doctor would like to get the AZ as most of his patients are ready and willing and he could do everyone very quickly ( he does over 500 elderly influenza vaccination every season)

When my children were young the pediatrician did house calls and as far as I know still does.

Tokyo is a big place and many shitamachi areas are still doing things the old ways.

No problems on demand testing, a lot of quick available vaccination, etc..

Perhaps your town should tell the rest of the country what it is doing wrong.

Really? So they all have the needed -80C° freezers? I find that hard to believe that "all" those small clinics have such a freezer!

And as far as I know the government hasn't released the AZ Vaccine yet.

This is not the USA where mass vaccination centres are practical as people can travel by car.

This means people need to travel by train creating more situations for spreading the virus.

The most logical thing is to release the AZ Vaccine to small clinics and doctors offices that are familiar with giving the local community influenza vaccines yearly,

These local places know their patients and no special appointment system would be needed.

Those not wanting to get AZ can use the government sites and booking system.

This worked incredible well in my home country/province now with over 70% having gotten at least their first dose. Every member of my family over 16 has now had at least one dose

The tree part really bothers me. It’s not like Yoyogi Park has many trees to begin with.

But as the vacant lot can only be used until the end of June as it will be used as a major transportation hub for the Tokyo Games, other potential vaccination sites were considered.

so then why even use the vacant lot? Just go straight to the next appropriate site?

Yeah, "Yoyogi Park vaccinations" are good, "workplace vaccinations" are good and all other things, but that's not where the meat is.

What REALLY counts is the ACTUAL number of VACCINATIONS given not how many venues you plan to have and 500,000/day is way too low.

It's like going to a fancy restaurant, if there's no food it just doesn't matter how good it looks.

It looks like Tokyo governor Koike found a good quick excuse before she is criticized a lot.

She's been slaughtered in the media for this. A change. org campaign to stop Dentsu (yeah, it's Dentsu, using tax money) destroying a wide area of the park has gathered nearly 110,000 signatures, Downtown's Matsumoto and even Dave Spector are making jokes about it on TV.

Public ridicule for using vast sums of public money to destroy parks for a 17 day event is a surprisingly effective way to make politicians change their minds.

They should use the Olympic Stadium. It's not going to see any other significant use this year.

Soon we won't be able to walk safely for fear of falling over vaccination sites. They are popping up everywhere...... At least 4 months too late, but getting there.

out here in sleepyville-by-sea, applications commenced early May, and my first Pfizer is scheduled for mid-July.... one of the many blessings of being an oldster! （⌒▽⌒）

Yes, I hope that for you too.

My coworker wife is a nurse and she got her 2 shots already. Went down with a damned high fever for 3 days or so after the vaccine, but after that totaly fine.

My parents in law, both in their 70s will receive their first shot I guess next week.

But at an hospital close where they live.

Things are starting rolling now.

Still slow, but at least there are movings.

That's good, I live in hope that my company does the same.

I receive my flu vaccine every year at my company. 2 Doctors and 2 Nurses give the shots to all employes who want to receive it.

Yesterday evening my boss said, that our company will organize the same thing for the Covid vaccine.

But he said that it takes time.

With a little luck I can get my 1st shot beginning of August and 2nd shot three weeks later.

He said that probably I will be full vaccinated beginning of September, and my international business trips can resume by end of the year.

That is absolutely fine for me.
