More bluefin tuna have died of a virus at Tokyo Sea Life Park in Tokyo, leaving only three left alive, officials said Monday, adding that the remaining fish will not survive the month.
According to the aquarium, the deaths have taken place in the exhibition corner, “Voyagers of the Pacific: Tuna,” that included three different types of fish including as bluefin tuna and bonito.
Last year on Nov 1, there were 159 fish, but in early January, the fish started dying. As of Monday, only three bluefin tuna were alive, NTV reported.
After analyzing the water quality and the dead fish, the aquarium said it had detected a virus in the spleen cells of the fish.
Tokyo Sea Life Park opened on 1989.

So, here's today's family murder with a geriatric twist.

Not surprised. It's an aquarium after all, a place of abuse and cruelty.

Really sad to see. Aquariums provide a lot of benefit to people through research and education but when something like this happens to the marine life in them, I can't help but wonder if they are a good idea at all.

Did they stop the construction?

Very sad. I've been in the park several times, always enjoyed to see the tuna, they always were so "genki". Hope the problem will be fixed soon.
