"The mutant strains seem to be having an influence but it's difficult to say scientifically and objectively what the extent is."

Especially when you don't test!

And hey... YOU are to blame for this, Governor. Remember that push to open earlier than Tokyo? Well, now you're seeing the result. Stop pretending it's a mystery how it happened, and stop asking Tokyo to be strict with legislation while you simply suggest restaurants close earlier of their own volition and not make anything mandatory.

Yup, what vaccines?

Blame everyone and everything except the moribund medical establishment and neolithic LDP.

Exactly, this shouldn’t be coming as à surprise. We knew that end of SOE would be interpreted as « party people » by many locals...

USA has 150 million vaccinated, UK has 35 million vaccinated and the powerhouse that is Chile has 10 million vaccinated. How many vaccinations has Japan administered??? I wonder if there is a correlation between the number of vaccinations and number of corona cases confirmed???

It's lucky we've had 2-3 months of vaccinations to get ahead of this, so we can avoid another wave and another state of emergency!

... oh, wait...

And those countries still have more cases than Japan. If they didn't start vaccinating faster there would be something seriously wrong, considering the terrible state they were/are in.

Hmmm...now if only there was a way of getting a better insight into this...

Osaka should be leading the way in infections, doesn't surprise me at all. You see many people walking around daily no mask.

I hope there is another SOE in Osaka. I live in the center and my partner and I had our best times with less people around. Now we sometimes find restaurants have people waiting outside at lunch time and we have to change plans.

its great to see so many out and about and having fun but the crowds are tiresome. Hopefully no tourists still for a while so it will still be rather quiet for Shinkansen trip and visits to tourist spots

Comparing apples to oranges? The virus dont care which city your in especially in an island that is about the size of California.

and its that exact mentality during a pandemic why infections are continuing to rise

Health experts have expressed concern about the spread of mutant virus strains, which may be more virulent and resistant to vaccines

What vaccines? If you allow a virus to run rampant, with no vaccination or lockdown, it will mutate. Trying to suggest thus is merely due to a ‘foreign’ strain is a weak attemptto deflect from the government’s head in the sand policy.

About one million vaccinations have been given in forty three days. The most jabs in one day was about 80,000.

Only doctors and nurses can do the jabbing.

Looks like it’s gonna be a while yet.
