Agreed. A generation that paid the highest price to give us the world as it is today. If only the younger people understood this.

There have been generations before and after making the same sacrifice. You never hear of the wars that followed? And with Trump and other morons in office it will continue until we are all destroyed. If only people understood you don't need war to begin with!

Had Japan not attacked Pearl Harbor and sent both nations into war, which would destroy Japan, those people would not have wasted their lives so others could say it was an "honor" on their behalf. THAT is what we should learn, but it seems we are incapable.

Now, that said, since it is said and done, and this man suffered through it, good on him and others like him for going back and saluting fallen comrades. Here's hoping they teach others not to go the same route, like others seem to wish the younger generations would do.

I remember seeing on TV that the vets of Pearl Harbor and the Japanese who bombed them would play baseball together during the 80s and 90s in a display that the past had been overcome. It is too bad that Japan chose to follow the British model when it modernized back in the mid-1800s, and had to establish an imperialist empire in Asia. The Asian field of WWII would not have happened.

I always thought they were following more in Germany's foot steps rather than Britains. Probably a combination though.

But the main thing to be learnt from Pearl Harbor is hidden in plain sight - Roosevelt knew the attack was coming, knew the Japanese Task Force was on the way, but did not warn Pearl Harbor.

He had wanted the attack to happen, and an eight point plan had been in operation for a year in order to goad Japan into attacking the US (read 'Day of Deceit' by Robert B. Stinnett).

Another, similar attack, inn 1967, occurred when Israel attacked an unarmed US spy ship in international waters, killing thirty four and injuring 171. Israel's intention was to sink the ship, leave no survivors, and it was going to be blamed on Egypt ('Operation Cyanide', by Peter Hounam).

If the truth about Pearl Harbor and the USS Liberty were known to the majority of Americans, aid and support would dry up immediately, and there would be a clamour for a real independent investigation into 9/11, with subpoena powers and no 'National Security' waivers.

This information is not confirmed by documents released by American government (which would be kicking itself in the), but there are such rumours, which would explain why some carriers were not present in the epicenter of the Japanese attack. Everyone is a scum in history. Gotta go best to not repeat it.

These are not 'rumours', they are backed up with documents and witness statements.

Sure, but if the public are unaware of previous treachery like Pearl and the USS Liberty (and the 'Gulf of Tonkin LIE', the Kuwaiti 'Incubator Baby LIE' and many others) the PTB will go on repeating these atrocities.
