Just more planes. Nothing new to people living in "the outskirts of Tokyo," like Ome, Hachioji, Tachikawa, Mitaka, Sagamihara, Kanagawa and Yamanashi. They fly other air craft regularly. This is just additional. Air base means air craft. Look up.

Hope that Ospreys fly at low altitude above the Diet building and Abe's residence everyday for patrols. Of course they would love such nice noise pollutions which Okinawans are suffering everyday.

More CV22 means more hearing losses, accidents and pollution. Japan needs more missiles and less air crafts.

Missile can bring down ospreys. Osprey can not intercept missiles. Missiles do not need fuel as Ospreys. Missiles do not need pilots as Ospreys.

Are the Japanese buying the CV22 or the MV22 or will they get their own custom models?

This is quickly becomminga non-issue as we approach the purchase and deployment of JSDF MV-22s. Or are the anti-US protesters going to be demonstrating at theJSDF bases as well?

Ospreys are very safe nowadays, they even fly over major cities in the U.S. every now and then... If the U.S. is willing to put its own cities "at risk" of the osprey.. I'm sure Japan will be fine

This is such a non issue. I can't believe some people are still whining about the Osprey. Do you all have ANY idea how many times these things have flown with out any problems. They have been around since 1988!!!!! Entered full time traning since 2000 and have been in full time active service since 2007. The have been deployed countless time in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Kuwait.

Seriously just look at the facts. There have only been 36 deaths caused by Osprey crashes over the course of its 25 year history in the entire world.

Huh? You make it sound like the folks around Yokota have no ears or something. That base has C-130's and they are not the quietest planes around either. The base has been there decades too, so I dont know where you get the idea that they will be getting "what's been dished out to the Okinawan's for decades" will be a change.

The Ospreys have been on Okinawa for a couple of years now, and guess what, no one is complaining anymore.

1 unit comes with a pricetag of 89 million dollar and Japan wants 40?? 3.5 billion dollar. I know where that money could be of better use sigh.

The good news is the mainland Japanese will be able to share some of the burden with Okinawa. I predict a summer of demonstrations at Yokota. This may be the turning point.
