People weary over latest extension of COVID emergency in Japan

I'm not weary of the state of emergency. I'm weary of "we've tried asking nicely and now we're all out of ideas". Make some real decisions that will actually have claws and you might see some real effects. I'm weary of ineffective measures and expecting "gaman" to make it magically go away.

It's almost like people are looking around for a crisis but not seeing it. Better keep the propaganda campaign going. How else will people convince themselves to live inconstant fear?

Stay home, stay safe. Safe and effective vaccines are here. I too am very frustrated with the slow rollout. Just a bit longer and we can go back to something like life before this scourge on humanity.

I'm well ahead of you. Masks are only effective if changed every hour or so and people don't touch them while wearing them. And in any case, the mesh of most of the masks on the market is not fine enough to stop the droplets from passing through.

The jury is still out. If people want to take part in these clinical trials, that's up to them. But I'm going to wait, and am in a low-risk group. If the pharma companies are so confident about the safety of their products, why do they need governments to protect them from public liability claims from harm done by their products. Isn't that what insurance is for?

They don't seem to be. Same overseas. With all those mask mandates the virus was still spreading fast, and when you compare results in like-for like places like California and Florida, where CA enforces masks by FL doesn't, case rates were similar.

Well, as businesses die and scale back what should the government be doing?

There has been no advice on how to keep natural immunity high.

How to eat better?

The necessity to moderate alcohol and tobacco consumption.

How to reduce toxins in the body through exercise and saunas.

The need for social contact and communication to aid emotional support for people alone.

The above might be obvious to some but not to all.

Especially not those governing!

If people eat better they'll be healthier and won't need to be nearly as afraid of the rona nor take those experimental jabs like they're told to. Can't have that.

That seems to be the plan. The Japanese pulled off an economic miracle after WW2. Could they truly be this incompetent now? Perhaps. But Japanese governments have always treated the average Taro and Hanako with thinly disguised contempt, at least since the Edo period. That doesn't seem to have changed.

No testing, no vaccine rollout plan in sight.

With all focus on Olympics and no “light in the end of the tunnel” for this virus situation in Japan, how can people have hope?

This is an endless situation in Japan. The best thing to do is clearly not test anyone, otherwise we’d be unveiling what would be one of the biggest scandals ever in this country.

It would simply be the end of LDP era.
