Power outage at Universal Studios Japan strands 35 roller coaster riders

Just 1 shy! Perhaps some one decided, wisely, to pass on joining their friends for this ride?

I got stuck in the first seat at Disney years back in Space Mountain, but we never left the platform. All lights came on and seeing all these people upside down all over the place was a relief because we got out.

The screams were horrifying.

In 1986, my father and uncle rode in the last car at the West Edmonton Mall, a few weeks before it derailed and three people died.

Anyone notice the roadways on the picture show driving on the right?

Nice catch! @dhaen 5:40pm. A ‘strange’ area with lots of partial fences, as well Can read the “Hollywood Dream” signage so the image is not reversed. Perhaps it’s to simulate driving in L.A.?

That’s an extraordinary number of ‘rescue crew’ but it’s actually park guests(!), the majority dressed in‘Squid Game’ jumpsuits & helmets for Halloween.

So you know what’s the deal with the arrows on the roadway? Go carts? Park trams?

That is a kids ride, Sesame’s Big Ride. The driver’s seat is in the middle and it was probably designed in Orlando by the Universal Creative.

Lol, last time we got stuck vertically at the top inside the EPCOT giant golf ball (otherwise known as "Spaceship Earth")

Apparently a kid got scared and tried to undo the seat restraints. And that stopped the ride automatically

They turned on the lights, undid the restraints, and we had to jump from the seats (now situated vertically) to the nearest platform, then climb all the way down the series of steep steps and platforms to the ground then outside

Classic Japanese lack of contingency planning.

And they are still trying to figure out what happened.

Iam not amused at this amusement park.

It's not. The other track on the top of the frame shows cars on an unmarked track going on the left side. The track is marked to really really remind drivers which side they should travel on. Otherwise they might forget, since they're in a left-hand side driving country.

No backup power source? With all the money the company makes you would think they would have a backup generator.

Perhaps it’s not for us to worry @kaimycahl. One wise poster above insists that USJapan needs their Nuclear Energy and outsiders shouldn’t bash & trash what Japan Does handle so successfully handle,.. well, until 3/11/2011.

This power outage aside, anybody thinking about going to USJ should do so while the foreign tourism is down. I went at the start of summer vacation and it was excellent with the few amount of people there. The past 5 years before the pandemic it was always jam packed with tourists from China, Korea and etc.

Why have they not got an emergency generator for this sort of problem?

Looking at USJ on google maps. The other roads inside the studio area are marked for right side driving.

5th Avenue, Rodeo Drive, etc.

Kids enjoyed the great weather here yesterday! Problem fixed now but according to one earwitness, the alleged explosion was so loud it was heard across Osaka Bay? “Sounds like a local transformer blew…” An extraordinary feat, indeed. Limited attendance so reserve early and weekdays are great.
