Japan's only solution to the energy crisis is persistently begging Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia to export their oils/gas at cheaper prices.

In exchange, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thailand, and Malaysian elites, as well as citizens, are allowed to own Japanese assets permanently without any political, or legal restriction (like citizenship). Southeast Asians should be fast-tracked towards becoming permanent residents in Japan easily. The safety of these people should be ensured against future Japanese ultranationalists who will go rampaging after finding out all jobs are taken by Asian foreigners.

If Japan does all of these, then these countries may consider it. Of course, this has been what Abe, Suga, and Kishida have been doing but with a heavy focus on Vietnam who is the most sympathetic to Japan. Other ASEAN countries face their domestic crises, so they don't have oils/gas to spare.

How many voters can you even bribe with a measly ¥2,000? Seems more like a reason to note vote for someone. That the gov't seriously thinks that ¥2,000 will have an impact on households is further proof just how disconnected and pathetic the gov't is. A 10 yrs old could understand just how useless this is. As if the ridiculously low amount of Y2000 isn't bad enough, they're not even giving it directly to constituents, either as cash or direct credit/rebate on their bills. Instead, it's going to power companies to fund some goofy point program. If ever TIJ applied to something, it's this.

The angry US won't allow that to happen but Americans are very accepting if Japan chooses oil/gas from ASEAN, especially from Vietnam. Because the US is grooming Vietnam to economically replace Japan at the USD recycling trade.

Point systems for power savings has always been a scam. Especially when the grid is about to be overloaded or the cost of fuel has gone up. Are you asking poor people to from sweltering heat? Every kilowatt-hour saved just means suffering for those that are only trying to stay cool and keep their food from spoiling. Solar will only help them if you provide them the equipment and support. In California they are already screwing over all the homeowners who are selling power back to the grid. They aren't even the only ones allowing the providers to do whatever they want.

Turning off all electronic and electrical advertising would be a great start. Then creating small forests on every street, thoroughfare and highway to make all of those channels of hard surfaces a greenery. Life would be better and more likely livable...
