Come to think about it, another tsunami might have been good to clean the plants out more quickly.

Guys, if you will quote just part of the statement then it will have a new meaning to it.

“We are not seeing any new abnormality” at the facility, where work is ongoing to bring reactors to a cold shutdown by the end of this year, a TEPCO spokesman said

It is very clear that work is ongoing and from that point they are not seeing any new abnormality. ^_^

The media in Japan are useless and wimpy. Where's the " Fukushima Gate " journalists ????

Doesn't anybody in the media want to blow the whistle ?????? It's a cover up by huge proportions.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Any independent confirmation from any journalistic sources?

Only Tepco?

Ok-that is alright then...........

The world knew this was coming (destroyed) by 3/16 except Tepco and Japanese media.

Actually 3 sets of parts from GE were still on the way from Florida to Japan on 3/18. It is very sad Japanese citizens are the last one to know the truth.as ALWAYS.

Take a step back yourself, you jumped on me because l said l wish they would stop downplaying this situation. Which is exactly what they have been doing since day one. If you dont believe this have a read of some of the statements put forward by this company and the government, my personal favorite "no immediate health concerns" maybe they can explain that one to the thousands of kids who now have to have thyroid test for the rest of their lives. My point was this clown has said "We are not seeing any new abnormality” at the facility" so in plain english that means there is an abnormality at the plant but this latest event has caused no new abnormalities. Personally l would call several destroyed and leaking reactor building a little more than an abnormality but you obviously see it differently so good for you.

Everyone pretty much knows that TEPCO has been downplaying the problems at the plants by now. I'd be more surprised if anyone didn't. You appear to have taken offense at the language that TEPCO uses, but in this specific case, the statement is nothing if not succint. I'm sure there are many people (me included) who would take, and have taken, umbrage at TEPCO's numerous understatements for the past 6 months since the disaster, but this is not one of them.

Since you want to argue the accuracy of words used so much, I would also like to point out that there are no destroyed reactors or reactor buildings. There were several which sustained heavy structural damage due to allegedly hydrogen explosions, but none has been "destroyed" as far as I know. Similarly for reactors, meltdown has been confirmed in multiple reactors through investigations, but I've yet to read about anything concerning "destroyed" reactors - what I've been reading is that the reactors are still a long way from being shut down in the first place, much less destroyed.

No one likes the way TEPCO has been purposely understating the situation in order to keep their shares from plummeting even more than it already has. Turning around and overstating the situation, however, doesn't help either.

Reading these comments made me believe TEPCO triggered the earthquake on purpose.

I'm so flaming reassured that everything is OK.

Utrack:

" The NPP is crippled, the media has been saying so for months now. So to say it remained stable is a contradiction. "

No contradiction at all. Word have meanings... try a dictionary.

smithinjapan:

" Yeah, and this evening there will be smoke rising from one or two of the reactors. "

It is evening, and no smoke. What happened to the great forecast?

-1 ( +3 / -5 )

And do we think they would tell us otherwise IF there was a problem??

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

nuclear plant there that was crippled by a huge quake and tsunami in March remained stable, officials said.

The NPP is crippled, the media has been saying so for months now. So to say it remained stable is a contradiction.

step back and look at how ludicrous the argument you just made is. Saying there are no "new abnormalities" does NOT mean the current situation is merely an abnormality - though it certainly is an abnormal situation, ne? And more, obviously

So you would agree that calling the current situation at Fukushima an abnormality is acceptable? Afterall the spokesman said they are seeing no NEW abnormalities, this suggests that they view the current situation as an abnormality.

I know you hate TEPCO, but step back and look at how ludicrous the argument you just made is. Saying there are no "new abnormalities" does NOT mean the current situation is merely an abnormality - though it certainly is an abnormal situation, ne? And more, obviously.

It was even on BBC

How is saying "We are not seeing any new abnormality" downplaying anything? The quake didn't cause any new damage - what do you expect them to say?

But for the record l was refering to TEPCO's language and statements in general not just this one.

Yeah, and this evening there will be smoke rising from one or two of the reactors.

It was only a Shindo 4 there. Seriously nothing to worry about at this point.

“We are not seeing any new abnormality” at the facility

Thats probably because your facility is in ruins so its a bit hard to tell if it gets any worse. Seriously though when are these idiots at TEPCO going to stop downplaying what is happening at there disaster of a plant.

We are not seeing any new abnormality

Oh good. Just the normal old ones then.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

M5.5? a mild tremor, not worthy of headline news, not in Japan.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Yeah, and this evening there will be smoke rising from one or two of the reactors.
