What most commentators on the summer here fail to mention is the massive humidity that is present until the end of September-this makes life extremely unpleasant,

@Monty

News flash, when outside, walking, jogging, in your car, sitting in the park, Cycling, ect...

Unless you are within 2 metres of some else you don't need to keep your mask on.

People really have to stop over reacting.

For the I see people not wearing masks squad.

Look again.

Mother and children far from others, masks not recommended for very young children, they are her children so expect she is fine.

In the background out of the water people near eachother are wearing masks.

Most are wearing masks, and those not are well away from others other than what are probably their own children.

The vigilanty squad out in force

The reason why nobody is wearing a mask, is the water play haters.

Wearing a waterlogged mask in the water is against safety regulations.

I go for jogs and I don’t wear a mask. Thats kinda silly. I use my brain connected to my legs to steer me away from close contact. I have my key wallet and a mask in my pocket for when and if I need one.

I am all for masks.

My point was that as long as people are not around others and keep a reasonable distance a mask is not needed.

One does not wear a mask in their own home because no one from outside the family is around.

The same applies if out no one around or near you there is no need and no point to keep the mask on.

I am sorry about your father, as someone in the high risk category due to lung damage from a previous near fatal pneumonia I take the situation very seriously.

That said the idea of constantly going after people without knowing the fact of the situation is getting to the point of social media bullying.

Before saying something people need to stop and think to themselves, "do I have all the facts."

I hope this is the new norm. Summers are way too hot in Japan.

I wonder if it will be a long summer like last year. It was warm until mid-November in Tokyo. I remember watching the Rugby World Cup final on Nov 2, wearing a short-sleeve shirt. When I first came to Japan in the 1980s, I was wearing long-sleeve shirts by mid-October and a light overcoat by mid-November. Not anymore.

But I hope it will be a short summer.

It’s also interesting that there hasn’t been one typhoon yet. Apparently, that’s extremely rare for July. So we could be in for a late typhoon season like last year.

I love summers in Japan.

Wish I could say the same. It’s brutal. Standing on a train platform in the still heat then an express train goes by blowing hot humid air over you - miserable.

My office (and train) is so hot I'm wearing short-sleeves practically year-round on week-days. I may need to get myself so more long-sleeve shirts if this telework thing keeps going!

July 2018 was freaky, the rainy season didn't really happen and the skies were very clear. I live in the mountains and we could see them pretty much every day that summer.

This year has been almost Bibical, rain for forty days and forty nights. I spent the few breaks in the rain, which were cloudy not sunny, cutting weeds, which were still wet. I was starting to get a bit depressed with it, so I'm very glad its all over. I can take hot much better than I can take constant rain.

If i read your post in another topic correctly, you went out for jogging today.

Did you wear a mask?

Interesting statistics about rain and sunlight.

Two Julys ago there was not a single cloudy day in July. It was scorching hot, we had hundreds die of heat stroke, we had a massive quake, a massive typhoon, and a bad flu season.

Now this year we have a month of almost 90% rainy days in July?

Climate change?

Monty: today 05:27

I was being sarcastic in my other post. Thought it was obvious.

@Monty Today 07:15pm

no sweat Monty. Partly my bad. Just trying add a bit of humor as these days are just getting crazy. So many seem to be getting stressed out. Which is why I jog. I’m the type that can’t sit still. Jogging seems to be one of the safe activities one can do to blow off stream and control distance from others.

Not a single bench in this "park".

It's Oyokogawa Water Park and there are benches there. Some of them can even be seen in the picture, under the pergola.

I think comuting on trains in Metro Tokyo area will always be brutal. The rush hour is no joke and the crowdiness of the trains will never go away for all eternity of Japan.

For the I don’t care about mask squad. Tell your stories to my dying father who got the virus from people who want to express their freedom of choice and cough and spit on produces at supermarkets.

Blame it on Mr. Covid.

Well, this year rain season started latter and we did not have as much rain as we usually get in Northern Chiba Prefecture.

as far the masks go, it really depends where you live.

in Mobara City the paranoia and fear is far greater than in Katori City, wile in Mobara most people wear masks, In Sawara and Katori most people do not wear them.

I counted the people entering a convince store in Sawara, Oami and Mobara wile there, just my own statistics.

In Mobara about 92% wear masks,

in Oami about 47% wear masks,

and in Sawara about 31% wear masks as they enter a confidence store.

on July the 28th we received normal precipitation for a rain season, however, before that day we had to irrigate the fields and since Aug

And this article, which shows so many out and about close together not wearing masks, comes right after an article telling us the number of positive virus cases continues to increase faster than ever. Once again Confused!!

Two Julys ago there was not a single cloudy day in July. It was scorching hot, we had hundreds die of heat stroke, we had a massive quake, a massive typhoon, and a bad flu season.

The 2018 rainy season was an odd one, in that it finished in the Kanto area earlier than anywhere else on the mainland (late June), and only a few days after Okinawa. July was indeed sizzling. That said, over 200 people died in floods in western Japan in early July.

Interesting article from a couple of days ago about this year's rainy season, the lack of typhoons and the atrociously high price of spuds right now.

@Tokyo-m

What are you going on about?

Benches are clearly visible in the background in the shade no less.

Nearly every park in Tokyo I have ever seen has benches or designated places to sit.

Most have toilets, a place to Wash, drinking fountain.

Some people just like to complain.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

No one wear mask in the park? It is known that summer in Tokyo can be really hot and people want to go outside with their family but please don't forget current situation where number of cases of covid is getting higher and higher from time to time.
