The government conducted polls to help them form a foreign policy.

Cmon now!

The power of propaganda

10 ( +19 / -9 )

94% of 57.7% of 3000 people.... chose one answer from the choices offered by.... a government section that makes up questionnaires.....

9 ( +15 / -6 )

24/7 wall to wall anti Russian propaganda will do that. Also hiding the reasons for Russia's incursion in Ukraine and only reporting one side of the conflict.

-1 ( +17 / -18 )

... because Russians are international people [+] ... because of the war they started in Ukraine?

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

I think it’s something to do with Russia firing missiles, willy-nilly, into peoples homes and cars and schools and movie theaters and hospitals. They are savages.

-2 ( +12 / -14 )

Gee... Ya don't say! Wonder why...

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Just goes to show you that the government backed mass media ard doing their job well.

Bet these 94% of people haven't thought about the consequences of Russia turning off the oil and gas taps, have they?

3 ( +10 / -7 )

I only hate Putin and his Z-cult criminal gangs. There are ordinary and conscientious people now under threat or active state-led brainwashing programmes.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Job done! The media must be very proud!

wonder who the lucky participants were? So easy to skew surveys…

4 ( +10 / -6 )

LOL @ the fascist Russia apologists and fans..."The survey must be wrong!"...."It's all the media's fault!"...."It's all propoganda!"

It's no wonder the Japanese people have an extremely negative view of fascist Russia when they have seen shameful Russia invade an independent nation and kill innocent citizens- men, women and children- for close to a year.

0 ( +10 / -10 )

Fascist USA is much the same @Fighto

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

See, propaganda works.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

MSM is working then. It's easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they have been fooled.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

There seem to be many Putin supporters here! Propaganda works!

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

Also hiding the reasons for Russia's incursion in Ukraine and only reporting one side of the conflict.

'Incursion' eh? Maybe it's dishonesty like this that leads to people to completely distrusting Russia.

It's not an 'incursion'. It's an invasion. Try and say that word, go on, you can do it.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

If china can invade Tibet, kill and torture nuns and monks and call it "liberation" and the rest of the world does nothing about it, then the word "incursion" shouldn't bother people either.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Putin likes Putin, and to a dictator who is also a homicidal maniac, that is all that matters.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

then the word "incursion" shouldn't bother people either.

That's the problem with 'incursioning' in the 21st century. It's just so much harder for murderous authoritarian kleptomaniac-maniacs to put a positive spin on invading, murdering, annexing, looting, raping, torturing and de-nazifying.

The people of Japan just aren't understanding that all of these things are justified. It's almost as if they can see what's actually happening.

Our resident Putin bootlickers here really should be trying harder. The message just isn't getting through.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Putin likes Putin, and to a dictator who is also a homicidal maniac, that is all that matters.

On the one hand, Western regimes and the 'free press' call him a dictator and on the other, lament the fact opinion polls demonstrate how he is so popular. While the unelected leaders of the EU strut around ordering lockdowns, buying ineffective vaccines they personally profit from, prohibiting protests and etc.

Not surprising. Only surprising how easily they csn get the sheep to go along with their nonsense.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

If only they had ordered a savage invasion, sorry, 'incursion' on a neighbouring state. Just think how 'popular' they would be!

It seems both sides aren't marketing themselves very well. I think Vlad should order his media to show pictures of him hugging puppies. Japanese people love puppies. It will make them forget his barbaric incursionist ways.

They like kittens too.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

If only they had ordered a savage invasion, sorry, 'incursion' on a neighbouring state.

Because Western regimes have never done that.......

2 ( +7 / -5 )

The Japanese population may well think that but the 'business community' it seems doesn't share those sentiments. Over 90% of the companies HQ'd in countries which have imposed sanctions on Russia have stayed in Russia. Japanese companies in Russia have actually increased by 2% over the last year.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Because Western regimes have never done that.......

I'd stick with my puppies suggestion. The 'whaddabout that thing' message that Vlad is feeding you to feed to us hasn't worked on 94% so far.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Don't blame the Japanese people's perspective over Russia, they were under America's puppet collaborator(LDP)brain washing warfare that they cannot say anything negative about U.S.

Can they say their country is daily under American military occupation of land, sea and the air or US military personnel misconduct was annoying ? NO!

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

It will reach 100% once Japan does something rash against China in Taiwan, then Russia will be forced to intervene.

Russia has already dealt a major blow to Japan by restricting fishing activities near the disputed seas, and now imagine that Russia will expand the restrictions beyond it. Japanese fishing industry will suffer greatly!

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

All the Pro Russian commentors crowing its propaganda, its rigged, its not true. But MSM only tell one side of the story. All so funny.

Media tell the story as they see it, unless run by governments like in Russia and China etc who get their stories and "facts" from government minders.

Should the world have been telling things from Hitlers perspective in WWII? Did Russia tell things in its press from both sides in WWII? Hell no, why would you?

Both Russia and Ukraine press tell things from their perspective only and those not combatants investigate as best they can and tell what they find.

Japanese people have access through the internet to all sides of the argument but how many wanted to listen to Hitlers perspective and propaganda even if they could have? How many want to hear what Putin thinks since he invaded Ukraine, targeting power and water through winter, killing tens of thousands of civilians in their homes or going about their daily lives? Trying to steal Ukraine territory with sham referendums of the Russians moved into occupied areas.

It is no surprise that people in Japan are not thinking friendly thoughts about ruthless Russia. Just like people were not having friendly thoughts about Hitler and Germany during WWII.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Not 95% of the Japanese people. Incorrect. 94% of a survey/poll.

"The mail-in survey reached 3,000 Japanese nationals aged 18 and over residing in the country, drawing valid responses from 1,732 of them, or 57.7 percent."

94% of 1,732 responses does not equal 94% of the nation.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

What a useless poll. What does "Russia" mean? The Russian government? Or the Russian people? If we're talking about governments here, we could also ask, "What percent of Japanese do not feel friendly toward the Japanese government?" and we'd likely get a very similar answer!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I think, not just the Japanese, but all over the world, people trust the china-nese less than they trust Russians.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Mail-in surveys? Next thing you know you will have to fax them in. HaHa. Still, if you do use a modern survey method the results will be similar. Russia has always been a northern menace to Japan. It's far better to work alongside your Asian brothers and sisters.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Ask any old Japanese man, in a snack bar,…Russian, French, Thai, Philippines or Vietnamese…it will definitely be Russian.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

They should have asked how many Japanese feel friendly towards Putin. But then, even before the invasion of Ukraine, a majority of Japanese did not feel friendly again Russia (as in Russian people?). That begs the question: how many Japanese feel "friendly" in general?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

according to the Cabinet Office, which conducted the annual diplomatic affairs survey

As everyone must surely know by now, surveys emanating from the Cabinet Office aren't design to reflect public opinion but to direct it. That's why they ask such questions as, "Politics is really complicated and difficult to understand. Don't you think it should be left to the experts".

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Build-up for supporting a war against Russia/China.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The whole world outside of Russia are watching Ukranian civilians getting killed every day. Nobody in or out of Russia are seeing Russian civilians getting killed by Ukranian forces.

Not hard to reach this kind of poll result.

worth repeating !
