I hate the scorching Japanese summers as much as anyone, but this rain is getting tedious, even though it does lower the temperatures slightly.

The ancients were wise when they shifted the capital from Kyoto to Edo. I'm sure weather was a factor in the decision.

It is hilarious we were told that rainy season ended 20 days early in Kanto here we are 22 days after that announcement and we have had mostly rain for since last week.
Guess they missed a few things.

So much for the short rainy season everyone was talking about a coupla weeks ago.

And these so called experts dare to say a few weeks ago the rainy season ended too early this year. What nonsense. Rainy season hasn't ended yet.

I have had the best vegetable crop I can remember.
As long as the rain is not accompanied with storms I certainly have no reason to complain.

A few weeks ago, the JMA declared the rainy season over in Kyushu, Shikoku and most of Honshu. They got that wrong because it came back a week or so later and all this current rain is a result of the usual rainy season front. They called it too soon!

Because of climate change? The record of torrential rain is broken annually. From tomorrow, I will come back to the office from Cov-19. I will turn down the motivation to commute because of the stormy rain.
I hope the company strongly recommend the remote work, when a torrential rain will be come.

Every year its a "record".
More like a broken one at that. Definitely not the worst rain we've had in the 23 years I've been here!

Japan does get lots of natural disasters, including extreme rain.
However, this does not mean extreme rain is not extreme! "it's happened before" won't be of much comfort to someone living below a slope with water 15cm deep and rising on the road outside their house. Stay safe everyone!

Did the meteorological society make an error when they announced the end of the rainy season three weeks ago? If so, do they ever announce it?

Trying to push the climate change nonsense. It's raining outside my house... shocker
