This is almost a miracle. Even when rescuers are beginning to or already have given up hope, there still is life among the rubble.

"They had been eating yogurt" I eat that stuff every day!

Slightly OT, but so do I and I make it myself.

rhyhl, "unable to pull himself from the wreckage" is a rather vague expression but can be clarified by the fact that they had survived on food from their refrigerator, which indicates that the lad had at least a modicum of mobility. Hypothermia ten days after being tsunami doused is preferable to the alternative, death. If he were truly incapacitated, he would not have been able to make his way to the roof to signal for help. No, I think that this is a hero, and a young one at that.

Hurray! And I am serious. Keep looking. All the searchers are heroes to me.

Little things (although they are major, of course) are miracles in horrible disasters such as these. It's a good thing they had access to the food, and amazing they survived the quake the cold. I hope they get proper care and fully recover.

Great story. The footage I saw was quite compelling. I hope both of them have a speedy recovery.

Amazing boy - same age as my son. He probably could have left to save himself but toughed out the nine days to care for his grandmother.

although a nice thought, syas right there the teenager, who was suffering from a hypothermia, had been unable until Sunday to pull himself from the wreckage. Still a good moment to be able to still find survivors.

Amazing, 80 years old... we can all hope that when we reach 80 we'll be as strong as her.

More people can be found after the quakes, it is a miracle of life.

Never giving up, there are still survivors under the debris.. The domestic & foreign rescue teams should not leave the area out of concerns over radiation. There is a mission for all to accomplish -- to save lives !

Another miracle!

"They had been eating yogurt"

I eat that stuff every day! Until today, anyway, when I finished the last of what I had. I usually buy 500 gram containers of plain yogurt for mere 105 yen on Sundays at Hanamasa, but those have been unavailable since 3/11. I'll check again tomorrow...

The yogurt, milk and water they had in the refrigerator kept them alive for nine days, according to news reports.
