Now its found, let it be! Respect those that lost their lives by not trying to 'salvage' or disturb the wreck, The best thing to do would be to keep its location secret!

There is a difference between confidential/restricted and secret. Robert Ballard in 1985, said that he would keep the Titanic's location confidential and restricted to a select few, and look what happened there! Its been pillaged and stripped! Unfortunately, though secrets however well kept to eventually get out, and while it does lie in very deep water, as soon as someone knows where it is, and has access to the technology to go down there, they will go looking for mementoes.  Classic example of just because we can doesn't me we should!

As a US Navy Vietnam war vet, this is every sailor's nightmare: hit at sea. the horrendous burns, injuries, being in the deep if you survive, sharks circling below and attacking, in water but none to drink under blazing tropical sun or freezing northern seas. RIP, sailors of the Indianapolis and all others who went down in the deep.

It was a military target during wartime. The Americans sank many Japanese ships in the same fashion. The reason so many Americans died was because the US did not start searching for them until a long time had passed.

"Civilian researchers say they have located the wreck of the USS Indianapolis, the World War II heavy cruiser that played a critical role in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima before being struck by Japanese torpedoes."

Maybe the sinking of the ship spared Japan of another Atomic Bomb.

Maybe the sinking of the ship spared Japan of another Atomic Bomb.

Sounds cool but we only had two operable bombs at the time. Best kept secret after the existence of the bombs themselves.

There were two atomic bombs according to atomic bomb experience museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. There is a small air force nearby. A bomb airplanes went Japan from this airport but I don't think no one ever heard the name of Nellis. You. can visit there. From Vegas Strip, turn east to. there but you will miss because these past were not advertised in Vegas.
