School vice principal suspended for sexually harassing teacher by asking for kisses

The Ibaraki Prefectural Board of Education has suspended the 59-year-old vice principal of an elementary school in Chikusei, Ibaraki Prefecture, for one month after he sexually harassed a female teacher.

According to the board, the man asked the woman for kisses, among other sexually charged remarks, that resulted in his suspension on Monday, Kyodo News reported. The woman told the board that the sexual harassment began last September and continued until March this year.

She said the vice principal asked to kiss her as a "reward” at least five times for doing various extra jobs when they were alone in a classroom. She said he also would touch her shoulders as if he were about to hug her.

The woman consulted with another teacher in March, leading to an investigation by the board of education.

The board said the vice principal admitted to the allegations and quoted him as saying his questionable acts were intended to improve communications in the workplace.

While not necessarily newsworthy enough for a front page story, as this is quite common in Japan as it is in the West, this article will hopefully give other women the courage to say no and even report workplace harassment. Good for her for standing up!

So he's a bad creep and an even worse liar. 'Workplace communication' won't be a problem for him anymore.

....well, for a month anyway!

Of course the vice principal will hand in his resignation letter before the period of his suspension is over?

"I have a cunning plan. I'll tell them I wanted to improve workplace communication."

Makes Baldrick look like an utter genius! Ah, Japan...(sigh).

Moonraker: I don't know, but I'd put my money on your last guess.

My thoughts when reading this? What on Earth is this doing here? This is a matter between two people. Why can't she just tell him to knock it off? It doesn't need to be shouted about in the media. Who cares!

It's bizarre how men of a certain age can allow their urges to touch - or more - to completely screw up a lifelong career and their standing too. Do they think they will get away with it? Do they no longer care what happens? Or do their immature urges truly overcome rational thought?
