Wow…its quite amazing what we are doing for a virus.

The world has gone insane! Anything related to the virus on both sides is nothing but a cult. Glowing masks... pff

All about money. Are we sure its not detecting any other form of virus or bacteria other than covid?

...plus rotating red light with siren...

Abe masks mk2? Batteries supplied by a subsidy of Abe’s cousin who’s married to Aso’s third cousins now divorced but married to a distant cousin of the royal family. I get it.

I had very uncomfortable flashbacks of The Scarlet Letter after reading this article's headline, thinking that people were going to start wandering around with glowing masks that blatantly showed they were infected. Good to know that it's restricted to the filter inside.

Humans have been living without masks for thousands of years with no problems.

Not a single plague or epidemic to speak of , in thousands of years?

Some people here seem to be worried about people being OSTRICHcized (ostracized) :P

Guess people will be wearing masks forever. Better make a mask glow when it detects how much CO2 is being breathed back in the lungs along with the germs being breathed out on the mask and back in. Humans have been living without masks for thousands of years with no problems.

Why no picture to show it working? Still just a theory?

At least I will be able to see clearly that the virus is absolutely everywhere. As if! As soon as the mask starts glowing as people leave their don't door, they're gonna just replace it with a plain old white one and then go to work on the packed trains like the usually do.

Maybe it might make people pause and think how nonsensical this whole charade is.

And god help the ostriches.

LOL yes. alas there will be Karens who light people up with UV light... lets hope people stay sensible. These things should be for personal use and not publish shaming.

it is also not very clear how specific the masks are, if common human coronaviruses also make the masks glow it would not be specially useful.

It uses antibodies specific to sarscov2, how likely is it that other coronavirus will set it off also?

Taking temperatures is theater, since so many are asymptotic. This is mask is a great idea.

Only if they were wandering around under ultraviolet lights it seems.

glow when exposed to ultraviolet light if they contain traces of the coronavirus

It is an interesting development but it is quite clear the sensitivity is not precisely the selling point, in order to detect the infection a lot of viruses must be present, it is also not very clear how specific the masks are, if common human coronaviruses also make the masks glow it would not be specially useful.

Still, this may lead to further advancements and other kind of detection methods in the future, letting a person know if they are infected with constant monitoring.

It is not for a virus but for the people that get infected.

Amongst many invention announcements we had during this pandemic (nose spray, useless stuff ...) nothing came to reality.

Keep on the vaporware !

I think that is a cool development. Those things should be put to use widely, and I hope they will. Time to invest in austrich farms and UV lights?

Humans have been living without masks for thousands of years with no problems.

Until recently when millions of people died.
