Except for the assault nature of AV-22, the Ospreys used by the Marines, MV-22 , are the same in specifications, isn't it? In other words, Ospreys are all the same basically by whichever branch of forces they may be used.

And yet, it's only Yokota-based AV-22's that they grounded for safety reasons. Futenma-based MV-22's are still flying and even participating in a rescue work off Yakushima.

The USAF version is equipped for special operations missions deep behind enemy lines. They replace the old HH-53D. It has Terrain Following Radar to permit low level flight in any weather, day or night, a FLIR, additional defensive systems, countermeasures and the like to allow operations behind enemy lines.
